NO I'm pretty sure that the IX head gasket has different oil jackets because of the MIVEC head.

Not sure what to do now. I had already put the head on the car & when I went to swap the VC gasket I realized it was for an 8. This means the engine gasket kit I have is for an 8. I did a little Googling last night & found theat the 8 &9 head gaskets have diffrent part numbers so I'd imagine that there must be something diffrent between the two.

if i am correct there is only a small difference and that is a certain port in the gasket but i have used an 8 gasket in my 9 and didn't have any problems

they are not the same, however they are interchangeable. the 9 gasket has some revisions to oil flow and also is thicker.

I have an evo 9 block and evo 8 head and I matched the gasket to the head

Different. The 9 is a bit thicker. If I remember correctly, the 9 has 2 more steel layers. All the holes line up though.
