Stock Turbo, Max PSI/Boost?

For the life of me I thought sure there was a thread out there that had this info, or a shout out thread to all the stock turbo's in high boost or something like that, and I can't find either of them.

Stock Turbo, Cams, Full Exhaust, LICP, all replacment rubber to silicone hoses, 3.5" IC(huge), K&N Filter, Possible Turbo Inlet tube that replaces stock maf <-> turbo tube, Possble Cobb FIlter or equivelent, and a tune. What could I squeeze out of that stock turbo, keep DD, and be able to run wide open down the freeway if needed for a few hours, and the occasional AutoX?

I have read post about 22-25psi, even up to like 30 as a spike. What if I needed a target of 25-26?

I'm looking for 32lbs here in a few weeks. I have a lot done and the turbo is ported hella on the hotside and getting a custom 3" O2 housing with Vband and a new compressor cover with a 3-4" intake(taking off the MAF). That will be as efficient as that turbo will ever get. It will be interesting to see what happens. Right now i'm spiking 30-31lbs and still may have room to go!

With a good tuner you can hit 26lbs on 92 pump. Most of friends that are not running meth are between 25-27lbs. It really all depends on the tunner and if you live in the hottest place in the world you wont be able to run more the 24-25 but up here in WA we can run 25-27. good luck

It really is all about the efficiency of the turbo and type of gas you plan on running...I am on 91 + meth/water and spike @ ~28psi and taper to ~22 psi at my redline ...The problem is that at a certain point you are beyond the efficiency of the turbo and are just blowing hot air (PV=nRT) -- although P is increasing it really is because T is increasing, which makes your car more prone to knock...I believe most that road race tune the car to peak around 26 psi tapering to 22 psi or so...

If you are just running straight pump (93 octane), you will likely find 24/25 psi peak to be about as good as you can get with some safety margin (again based on a good tune)...I just saw that you are in SLC ~ 1 mile in altitude, so you're turbo will struggle a bit (lack of air )...Good luck

Would a 17 psi WGA do the trick, with proper preload? I will also be running the 3/4 bar map sensor, with the 3 port solenoid.... Want to have as much boost controll as can while utilizing ECU to controll it.

I am running the stock WGA, so I don't think it is 'necessary', but it may help depending on your setup....

boost

Tuned then what ever you and your tuner like. Depends on fuel too(Octane). try c16 and pull the wastegate line off. Fun on a stock car.

Can I ask, when installing the wastegate, do I need to pull the boost pill or leave it inline?

Personally I hat boost pills. I always had bad luck with them. They always made me overboost. I would just get a MBC or ecu control boost.

It depends on how you plan on controlling boost - stock setup, GM 3 port BCS, MBC, EBC....Are you going to be using a GM 3 port BCS and stock ECU to control boost ? If so, then you'll need new boost lines (save your old boost lines should you ever go back to stock)....If you are going to use the stock BCS (less ideal), just leave the pills in (although I doub't you'll achieve the boost results you are looking for.)

I like the GM3 port BCS route (for ultimate control), although for simplicity sake the MBC is great!

It depends on how you plan on controlling boost
3 Port Solenoid
4 Bar Map Sensor
18 PSI Wastegate
Tephra Mod to control the boost from the stock ECU.

Thanks for your help.

So you'll need new vacuum / boost lines (obviously no pills) - you can get at most auto parts stores.

Your welcome!
