I was also supposed to go with TRE to built my six speed but ended up buying a built 5 speed from Shep's. I heard good things about TRE, but a lot of bad things about TRE. Plus they never called be back or replied back on my email. Shep is only place I'll go back to.

 

Why is everyone so shocked that Jon is not returning calls at the moment?


It clearly states he will be away from the office on his site..

 

During JUNE! We're now 2 weeks beyond that, plus, this is nothing new, he has done business like this for years and for some reason people keep going to him.

 

Doesn't matter what that site states, did you read this?

I always find that people get very defensive for him. I am not sure why he has such a strong reputation...

On one of the DSM forums i got multiple warngins from Moderators because i gave me opinion on his customer service. People we up in arms...

 

I am by no means a fan boy. I have spoken to Jon on numerous occasions, and he has been nothing short of helpful with any question, or problem I may have.


While some of the times were urgent and it took him a bit to get back to me, he always did.


Hell, he even took my rebuilt diff back to re inspect it for free when my dumb *** put the wrong fluid in.

 

Good luck, same old problems...

If you need a car absolutely back up and running by a certain time, go a different route....

Everyone who has been around for a while knows two things -- (1) Jon does not do an overnight turnaround and (2) his transmissions are fantastic.

You get one with the other...

 

His transmissions do work well. fantastic, yea sure. Better be for the month upon month turn around times. He needs to take his "Turn around time is quick, about 2-3 days" post off his site for the rear diffs for sure.

He also needs to buy an answering machine as well if he doesn't have one yet.

These people answer the phone and email.

They also build transmissions... and from my personal and professional experience... can meet reasonable expectations of both quality and turn around time.

 

WOW,this thread is an eye opener.Thank you to the OP for alerting the community of sub par service.I was looking at getting a built Tcase....now TRE is out of the question

Years back, i am a victim of TRE's poor customer service by NOT honoring their Warranty!

 

I, personally, am in favor of putting TRE on the the 'warning, scam' list.

I don't care what kind of transmissions he builds. This is inexcusable, and as a forum community we should warn other members who may not have searched enough to find the troubles that people are having with him as of late.

 

I've bought two trans from him, one for my old 1G GSX and my current 2G GS-T. Both times it took about a week for turnaround. The first time there was adequate communication, and even though I thought it could have been better, I just chalked it up as being my own trepidation because I had never dealt with them before and never bought a trans over the internet before. The second time there was hardly any communication at all, the trans just showed up one day, but since I was used to him I didn't mind or barely even notice - but nothing along the lines of an email saying "hey, your trans is here." or "hey, I just shipped it out you should get it on..." So I guess I got lucky. I wish things had turned out the same for you.
