Rattling coming from my engine

ok guys... I been having this problem for the past 2 weeks. My car has been rattling like crazy and its pretty loud. I thought it was the DP hitting the crossmember but its not that. ITs coming from my valve cover area. Click on the video link for the sound

Here are the things i have already checked:

- DP hitting the cross member
- turbo fins hitting the housing
-wastegate actuator
-flapper on the turbo

any ideas of what it could be?????

O2 Housing heat shield (this was the source of my rattle), or exhasut manifold heat shield.

Sounds like it could be valvetrain. use a prybar/ long screwdriver as a stethiscope(sp*) to help find the true source. put one end on what you want to listen to, and the other end to your ear. where the noise is loudest is most likely the source. keep in mind that noise/vibrations will travel.

I just had my 60k mile maintenance and when I got my car back I also had a noticable rattle coming from what sounds like the engine or somewhere under the drivers side of the car. I thought they did something to my exhaust because it was noticeably louder above 3k rpms but I think its just whatever is rattling down there that makes it loud. I have no idea what it is...

have you recently had a timing belt changed? the balance shafts can be difficult to synch on time, alot of folks end up putting it back together 180 degrees out which causes some pretty nasty rattle and vibration above 3k RPMs.

Yea I had my timing belt changed with the milage maintenance. The vibration is loud at 3k rpms and very loud at around 5k rpms.

Check your sparkplugs, it can be that one of them is semi loose. Its happened before, it can make some noise up in the valve cover area. Double check that man, gl!

My car made a similar rattling garbage noise this morning. And my AC compressor completely seized up by the middle of the day - catching itself on fire and making my day suck.

Check that. Serpentine belt means no AC. No h20 pump, no alty, no ps... nothing.

Umm, H2o pump runs off the timing belt , but you would loose the rest..
