ACT pressure plate help
OK, so i had my ACT full face clutch and pressure plate put in and it was all good, new throwout bearing and all... after about 40 miles i got a nasty vibration in the clutch pedal when depressed about a 1/4" and when i would release the car would do a little hopping, the tech and all my evo buddies running this clutch said it was normal, i'm at the shop a week later with 300+ miles on it and ask one of the techs there when it would be ok to hard shift the car, and he said the clutch should be good, just no launches... so i go up the block to the "test" road and do a 1-2 shift going WOT at about 4000 in 1st gear, i go for 3rd gear and the pedal hits the floor, i slowed down and got it into 2nd, got back to the shop and they said my C-clip popped out and it was common, they said they would take care of it and i left it overnight, the next day i got a call to come in and when i got there the clip was snapped and all the little arms in the middle of the pressure plate were warped, half were sitting higher than the others, so if you were looking at it while level with it they were uneven, they said it was ruined and they had a stock pressure plate lying around so i should put that in, i did, and got the car all done and now feels like stock, only it handles the power better...
so heres my question
what could cause this ???
300+ miles on the clutch, babied, granny shifting and no riding the clutch, and only hitting boost when necessary, and only 1 hard shift on it...
manufacturers defect ?
incorrect installation ?
that 1 hard shift ?
my money is NOT on one hard shift ruining the clutch, because i have seen people with 100 miles on a clutch hitting the track and shifting the crap outta their car, and the clutch was used for 40 miles in my friends car before he sold it to me and it worked more than fine, he upgraded to a triple disc for his setup, so i dont think it was bad from the get go...
opinions anyone ???
BTW im planning on swapping to a 5 speed and twin disc in the future, so this was just a temp clutch for my current setup, i think the stock pressure plate and ACT disc will work meanwhile at my power level...
thanks guys !!!!!

incorrect installation created the problem, then the hard shift caused the clip to break.
if you plan on switching to a five speed and a twin disc, your setup should do just fine for now
