Just another note. Most (not all), of the people with tubular manifolds that cracked also had tubular O2 housings. Most of which are unsupported. This puts lots of stress on the runners on the tubular mani's. I think that a tubular unit along with a supported O2 would fair much better.

The dump always sounds cool (I meant of having O2 dump over O2 housing) but it actually sounds pretty loud though....won't be good for a DD though, right?

Plus, what's the gain of it over a ported O2 housing?

You won't hear the dump in normal driving. It's only loud when your flooring it causing the wastegate to open.

That's what I've read too...and it'd fit my DD perfectly since I rarely WOT at all during the DD Then, what's the gain over a ported O2 housing then?

Ya I have been looking at the 02 dumps thinking about getting one of those, I bought a stock 02 housing for like $18 shipped off a member here so wouldn't be a big loss if I didnt use it

You will get faster spool up and gain more hp. Not sure of the exact numbers. I just purchased a shearer o2 dump, and I'll be getting a retune shortly. I'm curious myself to see what kind of gains that I'll get.

Then why are you posting this in the Evo forums? You're planning to hack the flange off and simply attach a 4G94 flange? That makes my head want to explode.

Forgive me, I'm not familiar with Lancers, is this a commonly accepted practice or something? How do you know that it will even fit? How do you know that it will fit with any kind of Evo 02 housing/dp? Is the deck height even the same? Is there room to stuff all that in there? Things to take into account from a fabrication standpoint. You can't just start welding stuff together and hope that everything will fit.

Yes this the common low budget best way to go and no all I do is weld the flange directly to the 4G63 flange many turbo base lancers have this, the runners from the 4G63 and 4G94 are ALMOST identical just off by maybe 1/4" this way this will allow me to use a evo DP with a 12" extension or like me I am going to just get 3" straight pipe all the way back to a magnaflow muffler. There is only one 4G94 to 16g manifold available right now and you need an external WG which I will not be using. Trust me I have been researching this non stop for about 3 months (and I mean like 4 hours a day) I posted this in Evo forum because my original question had nothing to do with my build just wanted to know which of the 2 EVO manifolds would be better and since this is the EVO forum..., BTW thank you for some heads up on different issues that may have arised but I have taken into account everything thus far
