Lesson learned on tuning for boost upgrades.

So there I was, out in the bricked lined, ashpalt paved, flat roofed, crematory oven my landlord calls a garage. Shade tree'n it this afternoon. I should have took pic's. I was black all over the face, arms, eyes, teeth, etc. Installed LICP, 3 port solenoid, new vacum lines for the solenoid, and a 4 bar map sensor. Well the sensor will go on tommorow as soon as my map is ready from 4WS. So I had to go to the corner for some smokes and a drink. Of course I showered first, buttoned up the car, pulled if ot the ramps, and then drove to the store.

My dumbass forgot what I just installed, and hit the boost in 3rd gear, 3/4 throttle... oh and boost hit hard, climbed and pulled for about a milisecond(1000 rpms) until roughly 4.5K ish, and then hard power failure, nose dive, and shutter! ...

Felt like I hit a wall. I must have hit fuel cut, etc. Limped it home, checked hosing, etc, nothing blew off, but wow did it scare the bejesus out of me. Atleast I know she will hold overboost on the hosing and have no leaks...

Now for the I told you so question, and I know I am going to hear it...
Did I damage my motor in any way. When this happened, luckly I was on open road and no one behind me, I felt the car fall flat on it's face, heard the wastgate realease as well as the BOV, and simoltaniously lifted off the gas.

Car did not throw a code, I was watching it on the COBB Tuner, it did not knock or register knock in the event either....

Thanks again for any replies.

I was hoping that it would be ok...

But for that brief second when rotating metal, time, and space all froze for a second, gets you a little worried.

It drives fine afterwords, of course no shifting above 3K revs for now. Just got the new Map from 4WS so wer is tuning a little today. All the kinks should work out for now.

Got to drop in the Omni 4 Bar now and do some tuning. Oh, has anyone else put an Omni 4 Bar sensor on there car yet. Any special tuning issues to look for with it, or secrets to know about. Just having a little bit of a time getting the fields dialed in with it correctly.

Yes it did. Thankful for that... Today Tamer @ 4WS got me a base map for testing with, and we will do some fine tuning as things are added this next week.

He is a really great tuner to work with. So far no boost cut today with partial throttle easing into boost to make sure. Went all the way to 6500 partial throttle with no hickup in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. Tamer was little upset with me for this, but again I was not trying to push the car, just check to see if I was going to have any issues if I approached boost at all. I have to drive 170 miles daily...ouch. Either way, all is good, I have faith in Tamer that his tune will get me dialed in for what I have now.

More testing tommorow. Trying to get the Tephra patches to work with my ROM file. THis way we can utilize the 4 Bar Omni sensor in the mix.
