I am running the ACT stage II clutch with the 10 lbs. fly. Not by choice, but becuase that is what I got when I bought it used. I like the setup, have no complaints. I did drive both an 8 and a 9 on the stock clutch and realize just how much more tough the clutchis to push and hold vs. stock. Either way, it works great for me, and allows power to be added. Good luck with your hunt.

thanks raceghost. the reason i ask is my mechanic tried to install a Perfection clutch (i only got it cuz i work at Advance Auto Parts and i got a huge employee discount) and when he went to bleed the system, the TOB and plate popped off. He reinstalled everything and again, when he went to bleed the clutch, the TOB and pressure plate popped off. he said he thinks its a defect in the pressure plate itself. so im returning that set to Advance and investing in a good aftermarket set.

What are your opinions on the following clutch kits:

-Exedy
-ACT
-Clutchmasters
-Fidanza - i know they make awesome flywheels

Dude PLEASE don't put a clutch on your Evo from Advanced Auto. You need to go with a clutch from a shop that works with aftermarket parts for our cars.
If I had the money I would get an Exedy twin but for the price the ACT TTPmod clutch is great! It is a little touchy for daily driving but you know it will let you go farther with your mods if you want to that is for sure.

mcevo9 I just saw you are from Euclid, OH. I grew up there and lived there until 1993. On Walnut Dr. near Forest Park Middle school (if it still exists). Where do you live?
If you need a good shop Buschur is up there ( kind of) or you could go to Mentor Mitsubishi. I know the last district service manager and of all the dealers they are the most Evo friendly.

Before you grab an ACT read all the threads on here bashing them for gear lockout issues at high rpm's.

I just put on a competition clutch stage 3 kevlar kit from MAP and I really like it. It's grabby but easy engaging. The kevlar is supposed to make it last a little longer. I'm really happy with it. It shifts and engages nice after breaking it in. It didn't break the bank either.

I reused my oem throwout bearing after an evoM member lost his pressure plate to a throwout bearing failure in the same kit. I didn't want to chance it. Mine only had 13,000 miles so I didn't sweat reusing it.

I have heard of some problems with fidanza flywheels. IMHO you're best off with a 1 piece steel flywheel. Stick with that and you'll be fine. It's a part that takes a lot of abuse. I wouldn't trust an aluminum steel sandwich.
