just installed kelford 272s in my ix mr... took a lil while but runs alright now... at an idle it car feels like its gonna die out... havent tuned it yet but how can i raise the idle so it doesnt want to die out... and oil like flickers...

 

tunning software can raise the idle

 

kelfords are known to do that so, tunning will be needed asap so you can have the right idle...

you NEED to tune the car for these guys to work, i also have kelford 272's an id didnt idle for **** until i got the car tuned

 

all answers point to: get a tune. A tuner definitely can raise the idle thru software. Do not fiddle with the throttle body that is calibrated for a reason.

 

I ran through and re-scaled the maf around idle, and mine idles really nice with the a/c on, and still has a bit of the bumpity bump with the a/c off. Took about 10 minutes to run through and do that.

 

its getting tuned today with snow performance kit and fp red...

yea i hear ya i rele didnt drive it that much before the tune.. and when i did i babied it... car made 445 with fp red, snow kit, cams and all other bolt ons... stock block and 50/50 water meth mix

its not bad...idk if im gonna keep it cause im rele lazy and im gonna hate having to fill it every so ofter, might sell it to buy engine internals... so im testing waters

 

So which method did you use to swap out the springs and retainers.
Head removal, air compressor in plug holes or the manual crankshaft
turning with rachet?

 

i used the air compressor in plug holes to keep cylinder aired up so the valves didnt drop...

 

i've been searching for a while on the Spring Retainer Seat install. In the How to thread, several guys in the discussion section had the pistons move when applying pressure.

One guy tried leaving it in gear wit the emergency brake on etc.. and still had it move, screwing up his timing.

Is there a sure fire way to use the air compressor method without the the piaton(s) slipping timing?

I'm getting ready to do this with a Kelford cam install and would sure like to know.

Not interested in theories, just experience & proven results. Thanks!
