I have located one of these close to home for a song in really GOOD condition...but with the info I can find it appears this block will have mounting problems and will not install in to the Evo 8/9, correct? Or is it problems mating to the Evo's head? Or is it bell housing bolt pattern? Or something else?

I know this is a 7 bolt engine, I am guessing all 7 bolt engines (between 4g63 and 4g64) do not have the same interchangeability?

Any info appreciated, as I have much to learn.

 

No that one will not work. I believe they were flipped and the exhaust and intake were on opposite sides of the motor. There is a thread stating the years you have to use.
