I searched (I DID, I DID!!)

I just found out we have an E85 pump close to Waterloo, IA. I wanted to know with a stock Evo 8, would I have to do anything to be able to run a mixture or E85 and say,, 92 Octane?? I put in a little more than a quarter tank, just to see what happens and it was unbelievably fast. but the SES light came on. I put some 92 in and it went away, guess it was too lean. Is there a good mixture? Or should I stay far away as possible until I get the mods needed?

Stay away from that. Unless you want an explosion. Get bigger injectors, pump, and a tune.

the octane isnt the problem, its the fact that your engine will require about 30% more e85 to burn, and if you fuel system cant supply that, then bad things might happen

Ya so true, with higher octance u wont get any knock but e85 it does require a bigger fuel system just look into upgrading ur injectors and ur fuel pump then get a tune and u will love the power gains

thanks for the advice! I was at the pump and i initially grabbed the wrong one. I was reading somewhere on here that lots of peeps run it, so i thought i could get away with not trying to kill it and get back to the gas station. I have been driving it for the past 2 days with no ill affects after i put the 92 in. After reading it, I think I will get the upgrades. I got an old laptop, a friend of mine wants my JDM Miata I have back in Yokosuka, so he says he can get me the cable and software to hook up to the car, will see if that is true. I dont know of any tuners in IA.

Look into making the trip Up to DB performance in Rogers, MN for a rock solid E85 tune. It would be well worth your $$.
