Lots of people talk about lifting heads without head studs but how many times has it happened?? This gets asked over and over. I have run 30 psi daily for over a year (stock turbo). I have done it with an fp Red for almost a full year. I do not leak oil and I have never had a problem. I have 78000 miles on my motor. I love to drag and beat the hell out of it.

I will pay pal a dollar to anyone who can prove that they have first hand had a head lift which was due to the headstuds and it was not due to the tune. I think it is funny how people regurgitate things they have heard with no experience.

It is definitely all relative to the tune. CA$H was doing it because there was about 10* too much timing in his map and at low rpm/high boost it creates intense cylinder pressure. I think everyone is agreeing here that its not the turbo or the boost, its the tune.

I have seen heads lift because some einstein gets the bright idea to reuse his headstuds after a HG job then run cranked boost like everything is normal. For that dollar you owe me, please send it to sales@englishracing.net

We have a winner ladies and gentlemen.... although do to a technicality.

I did not expect that someone would attempt to re-use the bolts.

Lets get it right here, people, the stock hardware are BOLTS, the aftermarket pieces are STUDS. There is a difference.

Yes, 7 bolt hardware is torque to yeild, and should not be reused, under any circumstance. However, off the shelf ARPs have been known to stretch as well, and I've seen stretched ARPs after only two retorques to manufacturer's specs.

Steven we have been over this a million times lol. No need for studs at this point. BUT if you are to do them you need to do it right and pull the head. I have tuned 35R cars that run low 10s and around 600WHP on stock head bolts with no issues... "not saying this is the best thing to do on stock studs" but if it holds up time and time again at this power level your car will be absolutely fine! Its all in the tune as Aaron/John Bradley is also stating.

Run it till you need them.. I run 24-25psi daily on my stocker and don't have any problems.. I'm hoping to upgrade to a bigger turbo sooner or later and don't plan on replacing the bolts till it's needed.. Had another friend that had a 6262 car and was tuned by mellon 523awhp on the stock bolts with no problems.
