Boost cut on Evo 6 TME & clutch - PLEASE ADVISE

Hi all,

Can I please have some advise on my lancer evo 6 tme.

I have just bought this car as a complete stock standard few weeks ago and since then I have done a little modification.
I have done 3" turbo back exhaust & a boost controller.
Since the boost controller was fitted I experience quite a number of boost cut especially when the metre shows go over & above 1.2 - 1.25 bar.
So then I asked around some workshops here on how to remove this boost cut as I am willing to achieve around 1.4 bar (20.5 psi) boost and all of them advising me to change the ECU. (Please correct me if I am wrong, 1 bar = 14.7 psi so therefore 1.4 bar = 20.5 psi).

The thing confuses me is they are giving me few number of options and now I'm not too sure on which way I should go with.
Some of them says go with Apexi Power FC, some of them says retrofit & reflash Evo 7 ECU and some of them says go with Vipec ECU.
Of course the most cost effecient will be just to get & retrofit + reflush a used Evo 7 ECU and the most expensive will be the Vipec ECU.

The questions is do you guys think it would be worth it to spend the money on the Vipec ECU or not?

How does the two compare in the performance as some of them said the way the ECU communicate to the engine will be quicker with the VIPEC ECU and therefore giving better outcome?

Would the VIPEC ECU capable of giving more horsepower on the outcome?

CLUTCH

The other thing also I am thinking of changing the stock standard clutch as the clutch has worn out quite badly.
Now again I have got some different of advises from some different workshops but most of them recommend the single plate exedy clutch for the budget I am looking to spend.

The question I have on this is would it be better to put the exedy heavy duty organic clutch or the exedy 9 buttons ceramic plate clutch for the mods being done on the car (turbo back exhaust, change ECU & boost controller @ 20 psi).

The car will mainly be used for just a normal road car but in the near future maybe occasionally I am willing to bring her to the drag strip.

Any advise on this topic would be much appreciated as I am very new to such a performance car.

Thanks a lot guys

Dave
