Amazing injectors 2200cc, no double pumper needed
I just ordered a DIY peak/hold injector driver box for the FIC BM1650s, if it works I'll post the results here since it should apply to stock ECU EVOs. If not, we'll probably be giving these ID2000s a try.
I put down 859 awhp on pump E85 with 1 set of 1600's Bosch blue top injectors using an Aeromotive A1000, -8 fuel line, and a Kenny Bell Boost-a-pump. I do have an Autronic ECM which seems to make better use of injectors than AEM (duty cycle vs. power and size of injector). With 1 set of these injectors and a bigger fuel pump 1,000 awhp should be do-able on pump E85.
A couple DSMers on the DSMlink forums are already running it. It's apparently not a real injector driver, it intercepts the power feed to the stock resistor pack and boosts voltage to it. It's also $239, which I find insulting considering how many people bought the new Blue Maxes with the promise that they were the cure for start-up/idle/part throttle problems that the old style 1600s were notorious for.

The 1650s are light years ahead of the old 1600s and 1680s (Ford 150 & 160# respectively). We run them on V3 and AEM with no issues without the driver. Some have found the need to add the EZtune and make it even more refined. In V3 the deadtime went from 1200 to 430ish for one chap. In V3 you can also play with the latency table and get them dialed in even closer. We have one customer/friend that is running them on his 2.3/3586 making 722whp and it is perfectly drivable.
So far I've only seen one person with actual experience using the EZ tune box. We've already wasted enough time and money on this issue, we're not going to gamble another $239 without more people coming forward with results that it will cure the issues.
The fact that your friend is on a 2.3 is also a telling sign, maybe the extra fueling required by the larger displacement is keeping the injectors at a high enough pulsewidth that they're able to stay out of the area where they're being problematic for others.
Regardless, this thread is about the ID2000s. On that note, a local DSMer just installed them yesterday on the stock ECU running DSMlink and E85 and reports that idle and cruise are great.

Tony knows his stuff. Just was at his shop watching him dialing these injectors on my buddys
civic. Purrs like a kitten untill the 4 inch aluminum exhaust made Tony's ears bleed. Side note have to run a hobbs switch on the second pump on the full blown duels. It was dieing at idle, aem wideband pegged at 10.0, as soon as I disabled the second pump ran awesome.
Tony, logs from justins civic will be to you as soon as the tial w/g flanges are on.

That could very well be it. All the cars we have currently running the 1650s are 2.2-2.3l engines. The 2.3 has the deadtime set at 600 and works great, but between the 2.3 and differences in setup it could very well be why you are having problems that we arent on these cars.
We sell ID2000s as well and I agree with you that they work great at idle and cruise even on gasoline. If you noticed, the link that Tony1 referred to was written by me. They will support nearly as much power as anyone will ever make and do it on 4 injectors which is absolutely amazing.

I am in fact running them that way right now
With the O2 feedback on no less, which was something I couldnt do with my old 1000s. I am going to play around with some other 2000cc+ injectors here in the near future that are going to work the same I am sure.
