will tears make this okay?

so heres the full story...

i just bought the car a few weeks ago and im still getting used to everything, my previous car was a 300zx and i had the clutch pedal set pretty low and i would barely let off the pedal while shifting quick. so im at a red light, no one around, so i decided to go and see what the car can do, im in first gear and i start moving and all the sudden i hear the motor reving high so i shift into 2nd and i start smelling my clutch.
i stopped my car to the side got out, got on my knees and begged for forgiveness and hugged my car letting her know that im sorry for beating her. i cried like a mother would cry if **** baby killers killed her baby.
will my tears and praying and begging for forgiveness be enough to undo the damage?...

Chances are you glazed the disc over. Just give it time of normal driving and it should be fine. You can adjust your clutch pedal if needed to move it lower. The clutch could also already be on its way out that is always possible.

Did your clutch slip in 1st gear or did it pull and when you shift to 2nd, it slipped?

If you haven't had this problem before, then it might have just started. You'll get 1-2 weeks before it completely goes out if you're an aggressive driver or else, it'll last a really long time if you don't get on it. Still remember a friend's brother drove his Evo around for a year with the clutch still slipping. He drove it really carefully. Don't know why he waited a year to do the clutch though....

i dont think it slipped...when i got home i waited and then after a few hours and put the car in 5 gear at a slow roll and floored it. i think it was my stupidity and i rode the clutch...i didnt get my foot off the clutch all the way and was probably about 60% up while i was almost flooring it. i never ever drive aggressive but there was no one around and just wanted to see what the car could do

i had a bad clutch before and i think i know what a bad clutch feels like, it felt fine for the rest of the way home after the incident, other then the smell

Don't worry you just had a bad launch. Stop at a red light and try it all over again except this time do it right.

Am I correct in thinking you were riding the clutch while in 5th gear? Just an FYI, that is not a very good idea. Riding the clutch in general is not advised. I don't suggest launching your car either...

Good Luck with your new ride.

naw i didnt ride the clutch in 5th gear...i agree thats a bad idea
i just had the car roll about 5 mph and put it in 5th gear and floor it, usually you can see if the clutch is slipping by doing that. if the clutch is on its way out, you would see the rpm going up while the car still rolls slowly, if the clutch is okay the car would bog and feel like its going to stall.
