More broken parts for the Bad Bish
As it should be... You'll find that a perfect tune up will never hurt a motor and you wont need a knock sensor.
I know your probably used to using a knock sensor coming from AEM so it'll take some time...
TOO bad there isn't a knock sensor to protect you from AEM!
This way if the AEM was ever knocking you could switch back to factory ecu..

Guess I wasn't so lucky on the shortblock after all. Just got back from driving the car, it is done. I can hear a rod bearing starting to go. I should have taken it apart and checked after two heads but didn't. This has been a hell of a year.
Atleast I can go look at the 2009 Fastest Times page and see how many of our customers and engines ran well this year!! haha
I'm done fellas. Norwalk has no days open for test and tune the rest of this year. D42 is just not safe enough to run the car down the track and quite honestly, I am burnt out.
No 8's this year and that is very unfortunate.
My apologies to all of you who follow the car, to Kevin for not getting the chance to drive it into the 8's this year and to the guys here at the shop.
I'm looking forward to fixing it again and doing some ECU testing and further cam testing over the LONG winter months here. I guess for this season I have to settle for 9.13 at 158.xx mph and that is pitiful.
Thanks for all the interest and support.

after reading this i wonder what a rod bearing starting to go sounds like, sorry to hear about your bad luck dave, next year at the shootout i hope to see you and the ricer battle it out
Very sorry to hear that, Dave. You have had some of the worst luck with the car in the past few months. I don't think anyone blames you for throwing in the towel at this point. Gather your thoughts and ideas over the winter, and come out stronger for next year!
Rod bearing starting to go sounds like a light "pecking" noise at first. Actually, I think it is what I was hearing yesterday as the car would come up on boost. I thought it was slight detonation and kept pulling timing out of the car in the area I'd hear it. The other sure sign is the breathers on every car I've seen do it will start to show signs of smoke, which I had this morning and the idle was acting up. I ignored the signs and took it for a drive. I hit it in 3rd gear, ran it to about 9500 rpm and lifted to coast for some traffic that was coming up. When I put the clutch in the pecking noise went to a dull hammering. I turned around, drove about 3 miles back to the shop on as light throttle as I could manage. It's quite audible now.

I am not going to bust my *** trying to get the car back together just to run it this time. Two times of that has now cost me a third attempt. No more half assing it.
I am waiting on our new pistons to come in, should be any day now. When they get here I will start the new build.
I would like to get it done in time for the NC race, if I do then I'll do everything I can to bring it down there.
I was contacted by the cam designer today. Good news there. He has a grind he has drawn up that he wants to do, thinks it's going to be a winner. Waiting on confidentiality agreements to be drawn up and signed and then they will be ground.
I also got a visit from Devin at AEM today to discuss the problems I have been seeing with the AEM EMS. He told me about the new features and such. It sounds very good. We had a good long meeting and I'm looking forward to the new software/EMS. He tells me it will not be released for the EVO until the issues I have requested to be fixed are fixed.

Thats great news. Sorry about your engine though.
Let me know the info on the NC race, I wouldnt mind making a trip down there.
Also, cant wait for the new cams and the new AEM, hopefully they perform as said!!
