This is awesome!
Can't wait to see the results

Dave, Which Model Motec are you looking at and how much do they usually cost?

I can't remember the models of the Motec, still in the investigation stage, same goes on pricing. Let me get the real information before I post something that is not correct.

Good thing we didnt need more than 40psi to make it.. I got the map smooth and just used the trim feature and went up.. I guess similar to boost comp..

Out of curiousity, what made you change your mind about Microtech?

Glad to hear about the ECU testing Dave! That is very cool and will be a great asset to the Evo community without a doubt. While it is true that even a 15 yr old ECU with no features can work terrific, we all like the little bells and whistles modern ECU's have so why not give some of them a try and see what works best with an Evo?

Good luck and I'm hoping for big power and high compression numbers when the Bad Bish gets put back together. Looking forward to your next update.

Thanks crcain and thanks for the referral to me on the Vipec. I'll give my honest input as always and try to go over the features and such as I see them and such. I may use a few different cars for this testing, mine is becoming a mess in the wiring harness department. It's been cut quite a few times now and the Haltech added to that.

I ordered a brand new wiring harness for the car a few days ago. I am going to keep it in the bag it comes in and when I finally decide what I am sticking with it will get installed on the car and won't be all cut up.

I won't be doing a compression test on the car. If it doesn't smoke, I'll be happy

Let me know how it goes tomorrow Dave!

Be curious what you find out with the Motec.

At one instance the car is at 6,000 rpm at .10 seconds later it is at 10,900 rpm, the timing in that same spot went from 10 degrees to say 21 degrees (the numbers used there are examples, not factual number).
David - if you can drag out the actual numbers from one of your logs, I'd be interested in seeing it. (And I'm guessing it might be of interest to AEM as well.) There's certain ratios of real to strange RPM ratios that say a lot about what happened.

So does this mean no chance of coming down to us rednecks in NC/SC? Would love to see some big names come out for the dyno day / drag racing event! https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/so...-shootout.html

Here is the basic plan, which like always is subject to change.

First the car will get put back together. I have to finish the tune and then figure out the anti lag and the idle. Then it's off to the track to try for this 8 second pass. If all goes well I'd be up for trying to come down to NC for the shootout in November. IF and when the car does manage to go 8's I am putting it on street tires, probably for good, and going to then make it a goal to go 8's on a street tire.

ECU testing, well the AEM side of it is done, now the Haltech and on Monday I will have a Vipec here. My plan today is to try the Vipec out on Daniel's car so I can get right on using it. When I finish tuning his car I'd like to them do a large thread about the features of all three of those units, my thoughts on ease of use, software, how the car feels, ease of installation etc. From there if someone else wants me to test their ECU I will be open to trying more. I am not going to run out and buy 10 different ECU's, try them, provide feedback and testing all out of my own pocket. If it is anything like the intake manifold testing I will have quite a few people contact me and ask me to test their product. I'm pretty confident Motec is giving away an ECU and that is one if I decide to run it will end up buying.

My main goal is to get an 8 second pass out of this car, as it has been all year.

The Motec has some really handy features that will help a ton when you put street tires on it and have traction problems.
