Help with engine problems

Ok so i took my car to the shop because i had a werd tick at ldel, with my shop stated it was lifters ticking, So i called up Jam and ordered some of their big bore lifters, changed the oil from regular rotella 15/40 to mobile one 10/30, started the car and now the ticking is even louder than before and now the car is smoking like hell wtf does anyone have any ideas on what else this could be. the ticking also comes and goes now and sometimes its loud then others, the car has only 3000 miles on the built motor any help will be apperciated. im not getting any blow by and the car is feels as strong as it was before i really dont know what to do here

Going to a thinner oil isn't going to help your problem, obviously as you can see, it can make it more obvious. Rotella is the way to go anyway.

Make sure the lifters are properly bled as well.

You might have a dirty injectors causing your cyclinders to run lean and detonation that causes the the edge of the pistons to wear off and then you get a slight slaping of the piston that sounds like lifter tick. I would compression check the motor. I ran into the same problem. A couple of months ago.

WTF? Where did you come up with this? He has a lifter ticking sound, not loss of power, knocking, and plumes of smoke.

jam lifters does not require to be bled is says so in the directions they said its already done for you, as far as pistion slap that would be a constant sound all the time the ticking comes and goes but we will do a compression test in the morning with a leak down to see whats going

as far as oil im using joe gibbs racing oil xp7 which they states its Ideal for hydraulic lifter engines, spec engines, crate motors, IMCA modified engines and NASCAR spec engines. Designed for clearances under .0030. Viscosity typical of SAE 10W-40.
