Need opinions on warranty..not voided????

So Ive gone to this dealer for synthetic oil changes. Yesterday the tech found a gear oil leak in the rear axle so the service guy checked and said it will be covered under warranty. He mentioned something about powertrain warranty.
Now Im surprised my cars warranty has never been voided. Its a modded 05 with 30k miles. Pretty obvious mods too. If they are covering this axle seal, does that mean they would cover my transfer case too? Its whining so I was thinking of having the tech go for a spin with me. What are my chances on this one??

what mods? you know they will hook the ecu up to something and read the boost you were pushing and could decline you... some dealerships are cool though if the cars cleanly modded and not half ***'ed. i wouldn't push your luck though, take out the controller and other things just in case before you get that stuff done.

Probably depends on the dealership and how cool the mechanic is.

Again, if your mechanic is cool, he's going to overlook it regardless if it's obvious. If he's a strict policy guy, he'll void it regardless of your attempts to hid mods.

depends on the dealership is what i have to say.

the one at home i usually go to deals with modded evos all the time with warranty. it is when the owner is an idiot that they void the warranty. one story to service manager told me is a guy brought his evo in for a new clutch at 5k miles and then again at 12 and needed a new tranny. well he dropped off his evo with drag strip numbers on his windshield..the dealer took photos and sent them to mitsu to void warranty lol.

another dealer i brought my car to while i am away at school immediately asked if i had mods before i stated the problem.

so IMO it depends on dealership. just be cool and straight up with them and they'll look to take care of u, maybe they'll remember u since u have them perform maitenance on ur car.

I don't think you want me to.

Anyway...what are you asking? They are either going to cover it or not. You modded the car and brought it to the dealership with them on the car. If they cover it be happy. If they don't accept the consequences and move on. There isn't anything you can do manipulate the situation in your favor short of remove the mods and take it to another dealership.

But again, it depends on the dealership. My evo still had warranty even after catless TBE, cams and a tune because my dealership was cool with modded car and the service manager knew I took good care of my car. Others aren't so fortunate.
