initially i had an issue with shifting above 7500 rpm....

hdss disc / pressure plate combo rated for ~480ft/lbs tq.......no pill, oem line.

i adjusted the rod below the dash & problem solved!

no issues with a 1-2 shift >8k.....all other gear changes are fine too.

1st try adjusting the clutch pedal rod.....

if that doesnt work, look into adjusting the nut behind the wheel.

My HDSS and Extreme pressure plate with Pro-lite flywheel shifts like a dream at high RPM, on a 460whp car.

2nd and 4th get the most abuse due to slamming the shifter back. Lock out is only caused by the difference in speed between x gear and y gear. If the synchronizer is worn, it can not work as designed. I have installed dozens of clutches on EVOs. Never had an issue with ACT, Excedy, or Tilton. Proper pedal free-play is a must.

Its obvious you don't like ACT. Try another brand.

You should all build strokers and shift at 7500 and run any clutch you want. Or be like me and run a stroker and 50 trim bb and shift at 6000 cuz you're running out of nuts.

Sorry to revive an old thread but it's a pretty well known fact that everything that comes with ACT clutches is junk. IMO if you have an ACT 6 puck and sprung clutch you should look into buying a pressure plate from someone else, and for the love of God an OEM throw out bearing. I've had friends with Evos with ACT clutches and all work fine as long as your not using one of their cheap street discs. And I'd be willing to bet that more than half of the people complaining about ACT lock out are actually complaining about worn synchros and they just don't know the difference. I have an ACT 3200 SD in my car and about 5 or 6 friends with Evos.. Mine is by far the smoothest shifting one out of all of them. Only gear I ever have trouble getting into is second but I think that's because I slam it into second too fast.. when I slow it down a bit I'm fine.

Twin and Triple disc clutches are great and you definitely get what you pay for but if your like me and don't make 100,000 a year and go to school full time you probably don't have the luxury of just dumping $2000 into a clutch setup and install at the drop of a hat. You have to live within your means and there's nothing wrong with an ACT clutch..

ACT is a great clutch if you get the right one for the application. There are about 16 or so ACT models for the Evo.
