ACT you bastard
Not sure how much you read the forums but exedy has their problems from what I've read. There was just a thread today about a guys stage2 falling apart, lots of twin disc problems, triple problems ect..

Biggest issue I have seen is the clip popping out, and there is a fix for that. If you are referring to the four puck that had problems and fell apart, the dude had 60 LAUNCHES on it! You will be lucky to get that with ANY clutch out there.... 500 to 5000 dollar clutches. Seriously. That thing held up like a trooper, if anything I am surprised it lasted that long to begin with.

Its a choice, but so far, it is the most reliable clutch I have driven for the Evo. I have the twin, a friend has an aftermarket stage 1 exedy in his car, both have 0 problems. Just all on the install, and how you drive the car. I have never heard a lockout issue with Exedys, ACT, it is at least 30% or better have lockout at high RPMs. Get the TOB fix and the clip will never pop out. They are reliable, and every time I have heard of someone locally calling Exedy they are more than helpful. As always, it is on the installer, and the break in has a good deal to do with it too. Treat it well and it will return the favor.
Yah I agree.. I don't think there's really any argument here as far as whether or not a twin or a triple disc is good or not. Just is it worth it. If you can afford it absolutely. If it's going to take you 3 months to save up for maybe you'd be better off with an ACT clutch and maybe an RPS pressure plate. From what I've heard I probably wouldn't invest in a Carbon Carbon clutch (I hope this doesn't start a Carbon Carbon argument lol).. they seem to not last very long and are pretty pricey. Other than that any clutch will do as long as it's paired with the proper pressure plate and TOB.
If you get a single plate clutch or an exedy twin... you're going to get 1-2 shift lockout IF you rev to 8k+
I have an Exedy twin HD and it will NOT shift to 2nd in a reasonable amount of time if I rev it out to 8k.
My solution... short shift the 1-2 shift just before 7k.
My permanent solution... QuarterMaster Twin.

Exedy is the sole oem supplier of clutches for all of japan's auto manufacturers. That is more than enough fact for me to feel comfortable purchasing exedy products. If you dont want lockout, then dont get a heavy design clutch disc. Sprung discs are heavier, but maintain better driveability. Solid discs are lighter but you get things like chatter and vibration. You people are complaining about lockout on a stock design clutch disc when youre revving 1-2k past what they were designed for.
