Blow Off Valve Question
Blow Off Valve Question
i was wondering what would be the best bov for my 06 evo 9, i was looking at the hks ssq bov, but was wanting some input from everyone. any help is appreciated
not being defensive but, why is the stock one the best, i like it, but i was looking for something a bit louder, but i guess that is a lot to pay just for sound, so if i get a different there will be no difference in performance?
They all perform differently or atleast work well on some cars and not others. Forge, APS, Stock being probably the most common on the Stock MAF. On speed density Tial is probably the number one choice. Threads like these get started everyday and it usually just invovles people giving you a hard time for caring about a BOV. Is your car stock? I've been running the Stock IX valve for 2 years, now at 27.7lbs of boost and It works just fine. I have a BR Intake and that made the BOV loud if that's all you care about.
Are you planning on running the HKS SSQV VTA? IF so I would not recommend it if your running a MAF as it might cause stalling issues. You also could run it recirculated and you should be fine. The stock BOV works great and if you have an upgraded intake you will still enjoy the sound of the BOV..

here is the generic answer which i support, don't bothering wasting money on changing the stock BOV unless its leaking. its a waste of money that u can spend on more useful things.
thank you guys for helping, okay so intake sounds more of a smarter idea because it will give me performance and sound nice, so i was looking through intakes, and some have a guard for water to not get into it through the hood scoop or hole, which is best? i know u mentioned br, does that have a guard, and yes my car is stock

well my intake is just the stock intake tubing with a vibrant maf adapter and a amsoil filter slapped onto that with no covers and the water doesn't seem to get in there. (also a small custom built bracket to hold up the intake)
Sounds like you are still stock.....if so don't waste your money on mods that won't give you good gains. It's all about HP/money ratio. First mod should be a TBE and a tune. Stock bov can handle a decent amount of boost, I have no issues @ 23psi.
