Interesting case of problems on the dyno
7.5 degrees at the cam gears is 15 degrees at the crank, and that's a lot!
What you can see is the effect of advancing the cams had on the powerband. It spooled the turbo much faster and generated the same torque, but almost 500 rpm earlier.
Bringing the cams back to the manufacturer's base timing moved the torque curve to the right. And since HP is a function of torque with respect to rpm, the same torque higher in the rpm range = more hp.
If you take adjustable cam gears, and this time retard both intake and exhaust cams, you should see the torque curve move a little higher in the rpm range, and power should go up again (if you're not out of turbo).

Dave, thanks for tuning Tara's car. It's an absolute rocket ship.
This is the build thread...

The car was bought with a mix of parts on it.
It was pushing coolant, I found the HG was leaking and figured to fix it right with an O ringed head and L19's. This is Evogirlie8's car, I just did the work.
I added
Buschur stage 3 head,
kelfords,
stock cam gears,
L19's,
FP oil feed line,
12 tooth trigger,
80mm Red,
1200cc,
double pump
I didn't change the intercooler piping, was going to but ended up not. The lower is AMS. The intake is PPI ported and 65mm Throttle body.
I went from HKS to stock cam gears, HKS only has one hole, I lined it up with a stock DSM gear and it looked the same.
Then I went on slowboy racings web site and checked if the part number for a aftermarket cam gear was the same for an Evo and a DSM. It was so I installed the DSM cam gears.
The cam gears are vary similar and you cant see the difference unless you have both right in front of you. The aftermarket cam gears fit both car's because they have 2 different dowel pin holes. Stupid mistake, but it was an easy fix and nothing was hurt. DSM hole is 12 o'clock and the EVO is like 11:45
If you don't want to check the other thread, this is how the car came. I believe it's compression is 9:1, not sure.
Switzer built head
Crower rods
Wiseco Severe Duty Pistons
HKS 272 cams
HKS adjustable cam gears

PPI 65mm Throttle body
Switzer ported Forced Performance 20GLT "GREEN" turbo w/ HD waste gate actuator
Switzer ported stock exhaust manifold
Switzer custom intake
Switzer Catch can
Hallman PRO Manual boost controller
Tial 38mm BOV

I believe based on the cam gear alone, using an EVO cam in the engine as it is suppose to be and just installing DSM cam gears the difference is about 7 degrees like I had said. We put the two sets of cam gears, as they would be installed together and it appears as though it's 2 teeth difference, which is about 7 degrees.
FYI this is my car and i just wanted to say thank you David for everything - my mechanic who brought the car down to you and agreed we wouldn't let anyone else handle the tune

THe car will be en route to Texas next weekend - it's new home

evogirlie8, you are welcome, I hope you enjoy the car and you are very happy with it. I am told its very fast! I'm not saying this because you are a girl................be careful in it.
Enjoy.
