so im about to install licp and it seems that this happens often? Correct me if im wrong. Should I just go ahead and buy t-bolt clamps or rely on the stock ones? Or are chances about the same for it blowing off whether its t-bolt or the stock ones?

haha reminds me of my first adventure with the evo! driving home got on the gas a few times (c'mon you would too if you just picked up an evo..) and all was fine. i come to an intersection and stop, then get on it a little in second gear and POP! loss of power, etc. good thing an evo buddy followed with me in his car, because neither one of us had tools (mine were at my house from my old car).

result was me on the side of the road at around midnight for the better part of 45 minutes while my friend went and picked up tools from his place..

Thank god lock wire or safty wire comes in handy other than aircraft use. After reading this post i went threw my bag of parts i use on the job on the flightline. found some nuts with holes on the sides and ran saftywire thru them going clock wise to keep it tight and tied it off to the T clamp. So glad a skill i hate doing but has uses in every day situations

I will have to make sure mine are tight. Carrying tools and having to fix the car on the road is no fun.

hell this happened to me on the way from Fort Gordon, GA to TTP in Orlando (about 400+ miles). on the way there my clamp blew off had to pull over at 530am in pitch black with my phone as my light lol. T bolt clamps work well along with the JCS hi grip clamps that TTP uses. I use one of each on each side so theres a total of 8 clamps holding the intercooler piping onto my AMS front mount.

AMS makes a LICP with a new design with the bracket kind of like the stock one so im going to switch over from the Injen and go to the AMS one. all the other aftermarket ones - ETS, Injen, Nisei etc don't have that bracket which is another reason they pop off

I couldn't stop laughing when I read that. Classic example of "No matter how bad you think you have it, someone always has it worse."

Whoa that sucks, this is one of the reasons we build our piping with stainless steel. You can tighten down the t-bolt as tight as possible and it won't blow off. The clamp is going to break before the piping will bend. Glad to see it's only minor damage and nothing serious!

This is a good thread. We had a customer try and blame us for install error when he popped off a LICP at 33psi three weeks later after he had work done here on a methanol injection car. He decided to put on tbolt clamps and thought they would be helpful. NOT.

As MitsuEvo803 stated, we use UK manufactured high strength worm drive clamps which are so strong they can crush aluminum.

We do not recommend Tbolt clamps and would personally rather use stock clamps over tbolts.
