Exclamation Reminder - Check Your IC Piping Couplers!

Just wanted to give everyone a friendly reminder to frequently check your IC piping couplers - even if you have T-Bolt clamps!.

On my way to work this morning, I pulled onto the freeway and while at WOT, I blew off my IC pipe right after the intercooler. Popped it so hard, it actually almost punctured the pipe! Needless to say, with no tools in the car, I had to limp along the shoulder for 3 miles to the nearest auto parts store to borrow some tools. Don't let this be you!!!

I would like to say thank you my local Checker Auto Parts store - they let me borrow the tools I needed (10mm wrench, 7/16" wrench and screwdriver) 30 minutes before they even opened. And it's a good thing I had my sun visor - kept my work clothes clean!

Has happened to all of us. Most turbo car owners keep tools of choice in their car to fix popped IC pipes

I've always carried a basic set of tools but I hadn't put any in the EVO since I bought it (in June). It's the first thing I'll do when I get home from work today!

maybe its just me or my perfect installation lol. I dont have tbolt clamp personally. i have a box full of tbolt clamps and worked like crap for me i used regular clamps tighten and no undertray and never blew off a lower intercooler pipe ever. I have blown the upper intercooler pipe then i changed out all the couplers/hoses problem solved. maybe a improper install at the time for you?

I have yet to blow any of the intercooler pipes off, and I'm running 27+ psi. Stock intercooler pipes, hoses, clamps and all...

^^ Knock on wood! It's quite a scary feeling when your car looses all its power all of sudden at WOT!

LOL, its more scary when you hear a boom and then that happens. If my boost spikes at like say 30psi, my stock bov will blow open, BOOM BOOM.

Yeah...
I even go as far as keeping spare clamps in the car.
Even though the annoying rattling on the tools and clamps annoys me to hell and back.
But if a clamp were to fail on my FMIC at 26psi, I dare say it would tear a piece out of the bumper cover.
