fuel cut and service light

hey hit fuel cut today oops. anyway just wondering if hitting it could trigger a service engine light. Because thats on now! sucks but i have to get an aftermarket blowoff valve so boosting will be more consistant and hold boost at what i want it too, so i wont have to keep fiddling with this mbc. Sometimes it boost 18 sometimes its 21.

Yes, it will trip your SES light. Get a fuel-cut defenser. I have an HKS one, and mine is good as new. (22-23lbs boost)

I hit fuel cut and triggered the ses as well. If it doesn't go away disconnect the battery for 10-15 minutes, then it will. The cool weather has caused many Evos to hit fuel cut. I used larger injectors, an adjustable fuel pressure regulator, and e-manage too get rid of it. Now I can boost 21-23 psi no problem.

By the way, the FCD cost $53. Quick, fast, inexpesive fix.

The fuel cut defender is not without risk. The very nature of the design reduces the margin to safety and the FCD'ers have claimed a few DSM's over the years.

I would be very careful and make sure you clearly understand what the gizmo is doing.

Have fun!

Hmm.. I have hit fuel cut several times and it hasn't triggered the SES (CEL).. Maybe I have something else wrong.. I can attest to the leaky nature of the stock BOV though.. Mine made a nice farting noise earlier today under boost.. I think my car is screwed up.. hehe..

Where did you find it for $53? Also, did you use a Standard, Type H, or Type K3 ? I saw that there was 3 different types on HKS's website.

The FCD on a EVO is a total disaster !

The fuel cut is based upon MAF signal input

Clamping the maf signal then does not give you any more fuel after the cut

I have three much safer options for you

1 - www.dynoflash.com - my product - safely rasies the fuel cut threshold with my stage rev flash - $225

2 - use an emanage - you can get it from Quantum - you can set the clamp point and add in extra fuel with the injector harness based upon map pressure - it works wonders on my car

3 - get larger injectors or a adj fuel pressure regulator and reduce the maf with a safc or emanage

I agree totally. It's like putting one of those electric turbos from ebay on your car.

Very bad idea.
