Goal: building 400-500HP evo?? what is needed?

The goal is to build an evo capable of 400-500 whp Evo. This would be a project that would span 2-3 years and would require strengthening the internals of the engine and drivetrain. Several things come to mind such as stroking the engine to 2.2 liters, larger capacity turbo, larger cam, aftermarket exhaust, etc... Who has the best parts and can do the work. I have been reading about Jun and APS and those guys have cars that put out the power (aps is now working on the Evo, they currently have suaburs pushing this amount of power). Also, Bozz is another high performance tuner, but can we obtain his parts over here? I have been reading about the poor performance of the stock drivetrain. Don't need a car that you can't accelrate with. Who makes a strong drivetrain. Are Evo rollcages supplied yet?

Thanks for all replys. The Evo really rocks and I want mine to be of the heavy metal variety.

yes do a search and youll find out
As far as the tranny, a guy has 557 at the wheels and his transmission is holding on strong as far as i know.

Youll need
Injectors, fuel management, larger turbo kit, fuel pump, boost control, new exhuast, new front mount, air intake, Cams, internals, head bolts, along with other stuff.

Do a search and youll find everything you need

Try calling this guy at this site. He can help you with everything
He has an evo as well

You wont need internals until about 450 whp. 400 whp is extremely easy to achieve. It can be done with an intake, exhaust, safc, IC piping and intercooler and some racegas. Cams are also a nice mod for that level.

Head studs are a good precautionary mod that are easy to install. if you install them before you blow the hg it can be done in all of 10 minutes.

On pump Gas you are going to need a larger turbo however.

If you feel like discussing goal and options you should IM me at Itsstockofficer or email me at itsstockofficer@aol.com. I have alot of experiance building this motor to that level.

Thanks for the replys. Buschur racing looks pretty cool as well as Quantum racing. As a previous 5.0 owner, I still find it amazing these little 4-bangers can produce this much power. Does anyone know tuners in the DFW area for the evo?

Thanks,
Jed

There's a place called Alamo Motorsports in Arlington, TX that should be able to help you out.

If your looking for info for making big hp Jun is a good start. There is also acompany called Norris Designs building Evo's putting out 6-750 HP. The cool thing about them is they build these cars to be driven on the street. There not just race cars that you can't take to the store. Ceck them out at www.norrisdesigns.com...Might be what your looking for.

Who was that guy making 557 whp anyway ????

You can see my car in the October Modified Magazine - its all listed there

Since then I built the whole engine and its making almost 600 at the wheels

Also - its in December Turbo magazine

We have the 500 whp set up down to a science and can be daily driven

the 550 part can start to get on the side of hard to drive on the street - depedning on how much lag you can handle and how bad an idle you can deal with
