6sp shifter counter weights removal help
Having a hell of a time putting in my 6sp tranny back in the evo. I am trying to take out the shifter counter weights. I think thats what they are called. Its th part where the shift linkage attaches to. Does anyone know how to remove this? I can't seem to get it to release so i can pull it out. It keeps getting hung up on the inner fender well so I can't get the trans in. PLEASE HELP..

Ok here are some pics. Hope this helps illustrate the issue.

Here is where I run into the issue. When I try and get the trans in it hits the shifter on that inner fender well..

I can get the lever to pull up but not release. It stops at this point..

Please is anyone can help me I would so greatly appreciate it. I just want to get my car back together.

You have to play around with the angle the engine is sitting.. Use a jack and another person.. Last but not least don't kill yourself over it.. I told you it was not much fun lol.. Call me if you need any tips dude!
The linkage does not need to come off, all you need to do is pitch the motor to get enough clearance..

Thanks Pete.. Man I have tried I have the Trans on a trans jack and have my jack on the motor so I have the motor at its lowest point. Problem is when I get close to the PP I snap the wedge collar off cause I can't get the shaft to seat quite right. At this point I want to tow it somewhere and pay the money to have it done. LOL. I have done pretty well till this point but wow there is no room for error here.
