Need Fuel Pump Help

My friend and I installed my walboro 255 fuel pump yesterday and the car runs fine, but the "low-gas" light is always lite now and it shows that I have no gas in the gas tank? Soon the "service engine" light also came on too, but even so the car still seems to run fine...

I just wanted to ask if anyone knew if these two problems were related and how to solve them both...any advice would be of great help! Thanks!

Pull the pump and go over the installation instructions again. Something seems like it's not connected

I had the same issue when I installed mine. There is a small pin or needle that registers up and down with the float. It rubs a kind of metal plate that will register the fuel to your cluster. Not sure why the cel is on though. I would have a parts store run those codes for you.

Check that the float didn't get bent and that it can slide up and down freely.

Thanks guys for all your expertise! I will need to look into why my check engine light is on! Just hit 30k is there any way that might have an impact on the issue? Like reminding me to take the car in to get my fluids change or something?

Do what they said and also go to your local auto store and have them pull the code(s) for you and post back with the results.

The CEL light will not come on indicating service, I wouldn't think that this would have anything to do with your issue. I'd do a followup with the CEL light at a local auto parts store like TNNRX7 said and let us know what you find out

Nope no maintenance light on the EVO's. If its throwing a CEL pull the code.

As for the gas gauge something got scewed during insall. Follow others reccomendation for checking the float mechanism

Ok, so I just stopped by autozone to get my CE Light checked out. It gave me a code of P0463

Saying something like it's probably because my gas meter is not reading correctly (which is true).

I've tried the gas cap and that didn't work. Must really be the fuel indicator that was not put in correctly or is messed up

Yea, not uncommon from doing a walbro install. You're gonna have to pull it again and check out the fuel pump assembly. Hopefully its not busted.

it looked fine when we put it back in. Sure hope it's not busted. Where would it most likely be busted to make my fuel gauge read "zero" and the fuel light to stay on? haha

It is most likely the float device. It can be fragile and cause the reading to be off. As far as the CEL goes I'd disconnect the negative battery terminal and then reconnect. See if it goes off again now that the walbro is hooked up.
