Fourth and fifth gear pull feels werid?

I'm still adapting to this car...so i just wanted to know if this was normal...
First, second and third gear pull great throughout the RPM band, but if i were to merge onto the highway on fourth gear an stomp on it, the car would pull fine until it hits 4k RPM and the motor starts to get louder like its struggling but it still goes...same with the fifth...thanks for your input!

It would be nice to see what the MAP is like and how the fuel injectors and air/fuel is acting during these pulls. Get a tatrix cable and evoscan and take a log of it, guaranteed someone will find the solution to the problem.

Could be your clutch. While cruising in 5th gear, stomp it. If the RPMS go up fast and you don't go anywhere, it's the clutch.

It likely has nothing to do with AFR, but too much ignition timing.

i just installed a brand new excedy clutch in...some of you guys say detonation, tune or too much timing...

Even though im running at about stock boost i would still have to tune? is it because of the extra mods the car has? UICP LICP and Catback? do these mods make that big of a difference?

How do i tell if its detonating...isn't dentonation caused by lean a/f ratios? my a/f gauge reads 11.6 at WOT is that where the evo is suppose to be at? and 14.3-15.3 when crusing...

And what do you guys mean by too much timing? doesn't the ECU control that when it detects knock?

thanks again guys...

DO you guys recommend anyone here in NYC for tuning?

I'm actually tihnking of just putting this car back to stock...too much headache and worries about this and that going bad...) =

If the previous owner had boost set at 24psi, I would assume he had it tuned for the boost level, but better to check and be safe.

As long as the car is tuned properly after mods, it will be fine. How did the car run in 4th and 5th before you messed with the boost?

This shop is in New Jersy.

As TTP stated just cause the AFR's look ok on your Wideband doesn't mean that the ignition timing isnt too far advance causing the car to knock/Detonate. When the ECU sees knock it will pull timing.

You need to log the car during these pulls to see what it is doing there are tons of guys in your area that have experience with this and the tools to help you log the car. Im in NJ during the week so if you want to take the trip I can help ya.

I'd say take the rip to LI. DG has proved themselves to be a big player in the EVO game these days.

Thing is putting it back to stock may prove to not help your situation at all as you don't know what the tune looks like thats in the car.

Don't get discouraged man. Just get the car checked out and a proper tune in it. DG has great tuning rates if your the non DIYer
