I've had the SpoolinUp COP system (used coils) installed for a week or so now, and it's quite a noticeable improvement over the OEM ignition system. I haven't tracked my fuel economy over a full tank yet, but just by the way that I'm at over 130 miles so far, and the gas gauge needle isn't even down to 1/2 yet (I run E85 and 1,000cc injectors; it goes fast), I know I'm getting siginificantly better fuel efficiency.

I'm also 100% fine with the fact that the OEM plastic valve cover insert goes away - the SpoolinUp system looks great, and with the plastic cover gone, there's almost NO weight gain:

Total weight of the SpoolinUp COP system - 2.55 lb:

Total weight of OEM coils, spark plug wires, mounting bolts, and plastic cover - 2.38 lb. Total weight gain = .165 lb., or about 75 grams! I can definitely handle that for a perceivable power gain, better driveability, and improved fuel economy:

After installing this COP, would you need a tune, or does it plug right in with no issues what so ever.

No tune required, no issues at all, but there's a good chance your Evo would make slightly more power and get better fuel economy with a retune.

After two full fillups, I can now report that my gas mileage has increased from 16.5-17 mpg to 18.5-19 mpg with the SpoolinUP ignifition system (on E85, not pump gas).

Did you regap your plugs on your IX to be a tad wider or leave them at stock gap?

Didn't regap or change the plugs. Just pulled the plastic cover, removed the OEM coils/wires, and plugged in the COP system. I might try gapping a tiny bit wider for slightly more power when I install the next set of plugs though.

I also didn't retune the car, change my route to work & back, drive differently, fillup at a different gas station, change wheels/tires, increase tire pressure, or pull my rear wing/do any weight reduction.

There is ZERO doubt in my mind that the SpoolinUp ignition system alone significantly increased fuel economy on my Evo. YMMV of course.

.023", Denso Iridium IKH24. E85, 33 psi peak boost, Cosworth M2 cams, 5,000 ft. elevation.

Should be able to go a tad bigger, that's just how I had gapped them when I installed the plugs new around 6k miles ago.
