High boost reliability for road racing

I just bought an Evo VII for my road racing car, and started researching the best solution to get 450 crank hp out of it. I was surprised to see how people talk about boost around 30psi as if it was normal.

Why people run so high boost on Evos? I don't see any reliability on it based on my prior track cars.

I't like to get 450hp with just 22~24psi, with the fastest spool as possible - that's pretty obvious, anyways.

I believe you guys have an ample supply of ethanol in Brazil. e85 and a BBK Full around 28-30 psi should net you EXACTLY what you are looking for!

Ethanol is nice for power, but horrible for mileage.

I was thinking on the 3071, for better spool. FP Green or Tomei looks nice, thou.

3071 is practically obsolete nowadays with the FP Red / BBK Full now being available. Regardless, The FP Red will be your best bet to reach 450 on regular pump gas. You will need to be a little more ambitious with the amount of boost to reach that power however.

this is a race car...mileage should not be of much concern for you. Go e85 and you wont regret it

450 CRANK horsepower is nothing...... that should be easily acheived. You can get that out of the stock evo 9 turbo, but if you want the extra power to be held uptop go with the BBK full, as that turbo was strictly designed for road course racing and will be well worth every penny since it holds power WAY better then stock 9 turbo.

your boost range is going to be dependent on your turbo. Boosting more than the efficiency range of the turbo will only create excess heat and add to increased turbo wear...

Pretty much any of the GT30s are obsolete now with all of the stock housing offerings on the market today. Why spend the money on a manifold, downpipe, external wg, etc. when you could have the same performance out of a stock housing unit that practically bolts right up?

No, you won't get the SAME performance. Fyi...

That's what I was thinking. A TS GT3071 will make the same power as a BBK with 6 or 7 less psi of boost.

The difference is so negligible that the hike in cost is not worth it, IMO.
