my Evo 8 is running on 1.2 low boost and 1.7 high boost
due to the extremly hot weather ( 35C in the mid)
and Now the biggest problem is the Turob Lag

the turbo opens at 4500 RMP and gives its full 1.7 or 1.2 at 5000 rpm its extremly laggy

i have been told its due to the laggy turbo 30.40 ( i heard it has been canceled deu to this problem)
and the large 280 cams

the car has been programmed ( tuned) yesterday, and the tuner told me about the lag
the tuner said it is near 390 AWHP ( no dyno)
and i heard from many guys that is should atleasdt produce 430 WHP on this setup
So guys any request so i can decrease the lag
any help or faulty things in the modificated parts please tell me about them

Sure there is lots of solutions, they are just probably not what you want to hear....

1. THe intake Manifold loses some spool but you make big gains up top

You can look at either changing the turbo to something smaller and still make the same power such as an FP Red Turbo

You can upgrade your engine to a 2.3 Stroker and you will pick up a lot of spool up there..

you could swap out your kansai intake manifold with a ported stock intake manifold and help gain some spool up there....

these are all options that you probably don't want to do, im sure your looking for a fix with your exact setup..

If it was me, I would save up for a 2.3 stroker engine and call it a day! That would really turn the spool up around and maybe consider buying a stock ported intake manifold and trying that as well to see. Im sure with a 2.3 stroker and a stock ported intake manifold would help spool up by at least 500-700 rpms

Is the guy tuning your car familiar with the Motec System?! That is a pretty involved ECU.

What gas are you running over there?

but i heard i can either change the turbo head to garrot 30.37
or change the cam size to 272
or stroke the engine
i have read that the 30.40 tubo is laggy that is why they stopped it

so what do u recommend?
thank you fro your help

Your intercooler is killing you. A 3" core just won't cut it you need something like a 4" BR racing IC. You might want to get ride of that turbo and get a PTE 6262 or FP HTA3586

So the turbo you have is like a GT3082R someone on this forum once said all the lag of a 35R but not the power...

For beter spool you can go smaller GT3076R / HKS3037

or for even better spool get a FP HTA3076

A 2.3L would really help you though...

but wouldn't the turbo housing differ from 35 PTE 6262 or FP HTA3586??

i think the only type of turbos that would fit are 3037 or 3240 on the same housing

what about the cam gears?

I am going to stick with my guns and recommend

a stroker kit ( 2.3 ) AMS or Buschur

GSC1 Cams

Stock Ported Intake Manifold

I would buy a Red which is proved to make up to 550+ whp on race gas

That is what i would do -

The turbo itself would make me think what you are going to do with the car....

street car - FP RED TURBO or a TWIN SCROLL 35R

Drag Car - TWIN SCROLL 35R or the TURBO recommended above

For reference - i used a 50 trim bb turbo and with a stroker kit made 500 whp and 475 lbs and seeing full boost by 4000 rpms

Good point - its a HKS Turbo kit so the best bet for a turbo that bolts-on with this kit is the HKS 3037 for better spoolup; add a 2.3L to that and you will see full boost before 3800 rpm...

3037 on a 2L see full boost about 4300rpm

oh yeah and a .63AR is big enough for a 2L...

3 inch intercooler piping is a bit big for the power your making. go with 2.5 piping. larger piping = more area to pressurize to make boost. Usually only necessary when making high horse power...my 2 cents

I would also suggest if your having a problem with that clutch to switch to a Exedy Twin Disk HD....

Very grabby and a very nice clutch.

So all in all, I think we need about $5-9,000 to get your car to spool quick and make great power... LOL

That includes a 2.3 stroker by the way....

I can't tell you enough as many people will that a 2.3 on a street car is pure sex....

my car gained 60-70 ft lbs of torque on crappy cams...

280 cams push the powerband to the right as well

272's would be more beneficial to your goals
