metal shavings in oil
i just did a oil change a couple of days ago and when i took off the oil filter i saw metal shavings look alike particles ..... i could see the small particles but i couldnt feel them if i rubbed them on my finger...
should i be worried??? this is the first oil change i have done since i pulled the head and changed my headgasket and got hks 280 cams installed about month ago

Still, oil analysis is a worthwhile thing.
fine... really?
all the oil analysis I've done has metals listed in ppb (parts per billion), thats too small to see with the naked eye.
I would say an oil analysis is in order at a minimum...
I use www.blackstone-labs.com but I've heard www.bobistheoilguy.com is also good.

Are you guys serious ???? If you can see metal shavings in your oil that is bad. I am going to guess it is a sign of bearing wear.
FWIW when I raced, if the mechanics saw stuff in the oil, the engine was pulled. Now that is not necessarily needed for a street car (as a first step), but I am sure repeated oil analysis will tell you if you have an issue.
Best of luck...
