Best 280 Cams
Define "best". Production quality? Longevity? Ease on the motor? Performance -- low, midrange, or highest HP?
HKS cams are a nice meshing of performance and quality, but they are by no means the upper end of performance. Kelford 272s, Jun 272s, FP4Rs, all for example are much better performing cams than a HKS numbered equivalent...

I know Tomei 280's are one of the top quality cams in the world. That's what AMS uses in their drag car btw. But since im sure you'll probably drive mostly on the streets, get some Kelford 272's.
What are the specs on kelfords? Dont just get a cam because there called 280's. None of the cams that say 280 are really 280 degree duration. If Im wrong correct me, but you should look at actual duration, lift and check to make sure they will work with stock springs and retainers.

The kelfords are 280 duration/11.5mm lift intake and 276duration/11mm lift exhaust . You would not want to run stock springs with any 280 cam. You will need a built engine, ported head, upgraded valve train, aftermarket intake manifold and a big 62mm+ (more like 66mm+) turbo(30psi+ boost) to run a cam this large in 2.0. If this does not sound like your set up you should really look at a kelford 272.
I have a 3g eclipse 4g64 motor and will be doing a evo8 head swap and forged piston/rods this winter. Im running 10psi on a big 16g now gonna be going to 30psi with meth on 93 or getting a 20g 20-25psi. im gonna be able to push 7-7.5k with the evo head.
Yeah, that setup you described isn't really going that need much cam. I'd say go for the HKS 280's (smoothest of the three), FP4R's (best low/mid-range), or Kelford 272's (best peak #'s) depending on what you want out of the cam. If you ever actually have an engine capable of 800 get new cams, but until then while your car is a daily-driver keep things reasonable.
I think 280s are more for track 'only' use and not suitable for daily street driving. Although I haven't tried HKS 280, I think it is not that rough compare to GSC or Kelford 280s.
im use to driving track only cars on the street. for my down time i have my dads 77 nova with 680hp to drive, it ran a 10.2 all motor with a 3600lb PP i can feel my left leg getting bigger already. Why does everyone hate BC cams? I was actualy thinking about there 288 cams, but still want to be able to drive places other than from gas station to gas station lol.
