I'm not sure what qualifies as 'abusive driving' here on EvoM since our cars put lots of stress on clutches to begin with. The obvious 'over launching' and smoking of clutches is what I define as abusive. Everything else, and a 'racing clutch' should be able to handle it.

I am among 3 local Evo drivers that had springs pop out of ACT clutch discs; two are hanging on my garage wall. I had 2 years, over a hundred autox launches (5k rpm two step on cold A6's.. nothing like a drag launch), track time and all.

Not bad for a $320 clutch.. but I stepped up to the Exedy Twin. So far, so good.

hmm i guess it differs wit each application

thanks kracka seems like bang for the buck! i e-mailed competition clutch and told them about my requirements, they said i was set ... 400wTQ/wHP with autocrossing and launching!

to me its a toss up between the TTP variant of the ACT clutch and the Competition clutch!

price is a big factor - a clutch that costs 500USD for u guys costs me 1000USD here in Trinidad

The damage was done on a launch. The final nail in the coffin may have been in regular driving or highway pulls but the groundwork for destruction was laid in advance from stressing the disc on the launches.
Thanks for the explination , I figured you ment on launches I've got the 6 puck I've had no issues but I'm usually pretty good with the clutch

The trans was purchased used. I was sold a trans that "shifts perfect" with a 5th gear grind... Its time to take care of all my drive train issues. I don't know what my splines look like yet. Il take pictures over the weekend as we tear down the car.

every clutch will have it's issues

exedy twin's have the infamous wedge clip breaking issue...which require the tranny to come off the fix

quartermaster's last 20k miles and need to be replaced

I have had my ACT HDSS for 22k miles and beat my car up on a daily basis...since upgrading my underhood shifter bushing I haven't been locked out of a gear in over 15k miles

it all comes down to the install and clutch adjustment
