ETS Intercooler Spacers - Help

Hey guys - I just got an ETS 4" (3.8") and would like to confirm the two aluminum spacers that came with it.
Are these spacers supposed to be placed behind the the two side brackets of the IC to basically move the IC forward a bit? There is no instructions that came with it.

Just want to make sure.

Thanks.

Now, how do you modify the crash beam to avoid the IC tank sides from touching the front crash beam?

I may hust have to add a soft foam/rubber between the crash beam and the IC.
