BBK Full or HTA FP Green?

I'm sitting here trying to decide whether I should start saving for a BBK Full or an HTA Green. I've read some great results on the BBK, but the HTA Green looks very tempting on paper and in the few results that I've read about. Its apparently too new to the market for there to be enough results to make a solid conclusion vs the BBK Full. And to make the decision even more difficult, apparently there is a BBK Full XL in development....

imho there are still countless reasons to chose the BBK Full over the HTA Green. First and foremost, it's far more proven. All dyno results I've seen from hta green have not placed it anywhere but right inline with the BBK Full. BBK uses 100% oem CHRA, and a stock WGA, while the HTA Green is some sort of modified CHRA (FP doesn't really say), uses an uprated WGA (these have been prone to failure), a custom comp cover (no longer stock appearing, and necessitates a 3" intake). FP Also would really like you to run their special oil lines....just so many drawbacks when you can just call CBRD and have a BBK on your door in a few days no muss no fuss.

BBK XL looks promising, but no reason to get excited for it until its actually here. Once its proven, it is an easy upgrade from a standard BBK

scheides, thanks much for the info. I'm not against the 3" inlet because I'm considering switching to SD so I'd have to get a new intake anyhow. The HTA Green appears to have an option to ship with an OEM WGA, so this is a non-issue too. However, I wasn't aware of the oil feed line. In looking at the FP website, it appears that their oil feed line is required for them to honor the one year warranty on their turbos. Not sure what issues could be caused by a non-OEM CHRA.

Not I, and I had it really bad on my IX turbo (on my VIII).

My comment about the possibility of FP using non-OEM CHRA is just for factual purposes. I trust the OEM chra way more than something I know nothing about, even if it 'should be just as good or better'

Sounds like my situation could be similar. With my stock IX turbo, I've got either BOV flutter or comp surge during spool in cool weather. Haven't figured out which.

Sheides, what ur CURRENT output now?? with meth?? water/meth ratio? psi?

you have modified ur car on BBK more than anyone else on this website

Did you have a drag race against any stock cars?? Z06 or so?!?!

we have no reports of surge,

not even the new larger test unit on a 2.3 liter or 2 liter

What were the specs on the car that made 430WHP on ur dyno?? Why is it ~30whp higher than most of the BBK users here??

Please clarify

now i'm even more confused on what i want well by the time i can afford one i'm pretty sure they'll be plenty of dyno graghs and such!

if you are referring to the one here,

it had a JM fab intake manifold... and 3.8" garrett core fmic and BR stage 3 head with S2 cams (my favorite combo)..

so it make great peak power!!

Pretty similar numbers to what I dyno'd earlier this summer, in dyno section. Did 480whp on my 'mild street tune' on MAP's dynojet at our fall dyno day. Then did their Rev2 manifold and have a SpoolinUp COP setup on the car soon for testing. 50/50 meth/water at around 30psi peak is a nice sweet spot for the BBK, but this turbo is so much fun on pump gas I sometimes contemplate just leaving the alky off

I tried to go to the track last weekend, but it got rained out I have a buddy with a supercharged CTS-V that I can get 5 car-lengths on I shared some dyno logs with some local Audi geeks with Tial605 kits on their B5 S4's that think it should be a close comparison on our local closed-course used for testing & comparing.

Either of these turbos will bring your evo up a big notch in acceleration performance while keeping it streetable and fun w/o going too far across 'the line' like some setups do. I think ultimately one could choose either and be very very happy!

How would you turn the Alkyl off??? are you running on upgraded ECU??

Personally I would go with the MAP SST turbo. I'm not sure if you know but it doesn't require a core, it's significantly cheaper than the green or BBK, you can sell or hold on to your old turbo. From what I've read on here it's fairly capable of your HP goals and the spool is nice and quick.
