JohnBradley's 2.2 long rod build

Well it has definitely been awhile in the making, but finally I am almost there. I need to thank everyone at EnglishRacing, Luke for patience with my weird ideas and late nights of brainstorming, TJ for his extreme attention to detail on the shortblock, Jeff Bush for the headporting/head assembly and final assembly, and Jake for making sure everything else with the car looks right.

So onto some pix...

Hmmm whats this? A new lip on my car and it looks strangely light in the front end.

HOLY CRAP WHERE DID IT GO?

Oh here it is

These have been waiting on the shelf for the light of day

Some closeups yesterday when Jeff was doing final assembly and making sure things were looking bueno

Putting in some dowels

Head is on, torqued, ready to go

MIVEC oil feed solution from the brains of TJ, Jeff, and Jake

ER 2.2LR Longblock Essentials-

JE 87mm 10:1 coated pistons (contact reduction, gas porting, window milling)
Coatings by Tirado Custom Coatings
Power Enterprise 87mm gasket
R&R 162mm Aluminum connecting rods
Eagle 94mm crank
AMS aluminum oil pan
ACL bearings
ARP main studs
AMS L19 head studs
Jeff Bush ported IX head
GSC MIVEC cams (currently undisclosed)
AEM cam gear
Magnus Cast Intake
Stock TB
FIC 2150cc high impedance injectors
Magnafuel Pro-Tuner 625 fuelpump
-6 fuel system
Aeromotive fuel rail
Aeromotive FPR
Stock ECU SD
Omnipower 4 bar MAP
Somer's Machine prepped block

Supporting mods-
ETS 3586HTA turbo kit
ETS 3.5" exhaust
ETS 4" intercooler kit and piping with Magnus specific UICP
SparkTech Non-CDi COP
AEM Tru-Boost
AEM UEGO
etc.

I think that is more or less everything besides the usual suspects. TJ went back through the tranny before we reinstall it, put some brake pads and a new hub bearing assembly on it and will be doing a few other things to make sure everything is working together. The AMR suspension is perfect and the only other thing that needs changed are the current wheels and tires....something alot stickier if all goes well.

It should hopefully be up and running in short order, get broke in on gasoline, and then back to E85 for some full power stuff. I am looking to max out the ETS 3586 kit and then decide from there where I want to go.

Thanks for reading

Aaron

EDIT--- long rod 2.4 (phase 2) motor complete and in the car...see post 285

Thanks. I forgot to mention Billy of course for engineering the sweet deal on the ETS parts earlier this year. Which brings me to ETS since none of this would have ever been needed if they didnt build kits that make so much power

Thanks guys.

Alot of planning and alot time spent gathering parts but its almost there. So far our 2.2 testing really seems to be doing well. The other 2.2 is making really good power for the turbo used, spools well, and likes to rev. Its getting a 3586 this week and hopefully some S2s before too long (it has HKS 272s and is also an VIII). It made 546 at 28psi with an ETS SC61 kit so I am pretty sure both James' and my 2.2s will rip when given the 86.

I will be putting dyno plots and data in this thread as well as the dyno forum as results start trickling in.

Aaron
