Update: Went to the dealership on sat. to see what the hell was going on and I STILL couldnt get a straight answer. The only thing that I was told was, "we put the car on the lift, and the noise was coming from the rear driveshaft". WTF....I highly doubt this was the problem but we will see today. And they still couldnt tell me WHY...this was the problem. UNBELIEVABLE

These idiots at do not KNOW ****.....AND I HOPE IS READING THIS. Never in my life have I ever encountered such a bunch of *******s. First they promised to get me a car...of course they didnt, then they promised that this was the problem (rear drive shaft), and of course this was not. I actually dont know why I am so suprised at this. Well this will be the 3rd time at which the car will be at the dealer 4-ever. I am going to ripp them a new one tom. morning.

3rd time = Lemon Law

Make sure they realize that. You should have some literature in your service manual binder (that they give you when you buy the car).

I hear that whining noise some times to. There was also a leak in my radiator pipe (leaking fluid and burning up) + a leak of tranny oil from a small black cover with 6 screws thru it underneath my car. Never was fixed... I'd like to know what it really is? I originally was told it's just probably a loose screw... Not very convincing, nor appeasing. With all of this kind of talk, I am getting it checked tomorrow.

So I call them back this morning and told them as before that what they did, DID NOT fix the problem. Their response was "So when can you come down take a tech for a ride"....so that got me FIRED UP.....I then responded by telling him that I shouldnt have to take him for a ride, and that they should of taken it for a ride the first time instead of just putting it up on the lift. I also told him that he would have to be deaf not to hear it. So I might bring it back down to them this afternoon (like we all dont have lives of our own and work during the day). But I also called Danbury Mitsu. and the service manager told me that he would call the Area Service Rep. and see if there would be a problem if they could fix it.

JROCK,
If you are worried about service get your EVO from the dealer I did. They know how to work on the EVO. They replaced my clutch when I had a bad throwout bearing from the begining. They took me in the shop to show me the transmission all in pieces. I now have 26K with 0 problems! Since I don't want to appear like I work for the Dealer PM me for details.

So what do you all think I should do? I 1 hand I am so mad at this dealer, but they did originally fix my 5th gear syncro without questioning anything, and they are in my home town. This other dealer is next to work but after talking to the service manager they have only worked on 1 EVO so far?????

I hate to hear that Supercharged... I got mine back yesterday evening and it runs great.... so far. Dont forget about the Lemon-Law either. 3 strikes and they're out. I would tell them to put it on the lift, remove the tranny and see if they have any problems... All mine did was replace the transfer case, but they still took the whole tranny apart to see if it could have been anything else as well. Good luck to you and keep us posted.

i ended up bringing the car back to the original dealership and taking a tech for a ride....again, like before the tech was like "thats not good". so the car gets back to the shop and here comes some ******* who works for the dealership comes and says its probably the COMMON drivetrain noise for this car....IMMEDIATELY i start yellin.....this ****in pompise ******* starts to interupt me, and then i tell him how i just took one of HIS techs for a ride.....he was like ooooohhhh and then says to the service advisor, get him a car...and i am like no ****....THE SAGA CONTINUES....oh, and i did remind them that this is their last shot to fix the problem.

just got off the phone with them.....they did order a transfer case today. now I will just have to wait and see if that was the actual problem. the tech says "Isnt this what you told us it probably was from the begining?" I just laughed.

Glad to hear it. I think it's just my clutch (Clutchmaster's Stage I) but it chatters pretty badly when it's cold. I've had many an aftermarket clutch in a number of different cars and I have never heard this before. I might have to make a trip back to the dealership....

Did you have the dealer put the clutch in? Why did you decide to go with Clutchmasters Stage 1.

Update.....3 days later and the part still hasnt arrived. They said that they might have the part tom. I want the car back for PRUVEN dyno day on saturday. I have already had my car dynoed at 273whp and there is alot more tuning to do.

When you are looking at 8 hours of labor @ $60 and hour, it'll make you think twice about dropping $1200 on a clutch. If I had to do it all over again (and I'm sure I will) I would have just spent the money and got the 2 disk. I am definately going with a Twin plate unit like Exedy or HKS next time. The CM Stage I is adequate for now, but who knows how long it's going to last... By the way, my dealership had my car for a week, but they gave me a nice rental to beat on in the meantime.....
