TRanny or DIFF. MAJOR whining

it started last night driving home from work. The noise wasnt that bad but def. not your typical deceleration noise. This noise also happens even with the clutch pressed. Anyways the noise is like a loud howling, whining, and it sounds like I can actually hear gears moving. Something is def not right. Then this morning on the way to WORK on the higway all of sudden this noice get EXTREMELY loud. So loud in fact that I am scared to drive it. I called Mitsu and left a message with the service dept. The only problem is I wanted to bring my car to a difference mitsu. but I dont feel comfortable at ALL driving the car home 25 miles. Has anyone had a problem like this before. The car itself seems to drive fine (for now) with no visible performance issues but this noise is soooooooo loud. It sounds like underneath the car is falling apart.

right now my car is sitting at Colonial Mitsu is Danbury, CT. When I got there the service manager had me go for a ride in it with one of his techs. So we both get in the car, and I start to pull out of the dealership and the guy goes "I hear it already", I said that is NOT the noise (he was referring to the normal deceleration buzz) and then I proceeded to drive. As soon as I put it into 3rd and took my foot off the gas, the guys face turned . They had previously pulled my record and saw that SHELTON Mitsu. just replaced my 5th gear syncrho and the tech said "Maybe they didnt put any oil back in the transfer case".....WTF is that. So right now I am waiting to hear back from them. Also, on a nother note, Colonial told me that if it something that SHELTON F#$@ed UP, they wont fix it because they wont get paid. IS THIS TRUE? Why cant Mitsu's work together. They are all certified dealers???

Well, they checked all the oil levels and everything was fine. But they did tell me to bring the car back to SHELTON because they were the original dealership that worked on it. So I called SHELTON and they did agree to this that this in fact is a MITSU Policy. So here is my deal.....I am appalled that they would let me drive a car were the transfer case is suspect. I hope it seizes up and I get in an accident so I can SUE the **** out of them (But not really). What is the Mitsu. Rep. #/Zone manager for Shelton, CT????????

Shelton said that it was my driveshaft....I tell you what....it is DEF. NOT my driveshaft. So I guess I wil have to wait and see because they are replacing the driveshaft and we will see if it goes away.

My car is going in next week because of a ridiculous rattle I have when I decelarate in 3rd and 4th gear. I also have a howling noise when I first engage the clutch from a stop. Sometimes my clutch engages high and sometimes it engages in the middle, wtf!

I had the same whining in my transfer case. pulled it apart and low and behold I need a new transfer case. Apparently there were all kinds of metal shavings inside so they are going to replace it under warranty. Hopefully, I'll get it back Friday.

I 2nd that.

Also, prior when fixing my 5th gear synchro when the had the car for a week they didnt charge me.

But, unfortunately when they go and tear down my old driveshaft, they are going to notice the wear mark in the driveshaft from the O2 sensor relocation from the UR test pipe. This happened a while ago and the difference in the noise that is occuring now and the one that I experienced during the test pipe rub, is COMPLETELY different. I cant wait to hear what they say about this. I will keep you all updated

And on another note, they cant just go ahead and charge you without letting you know first. They have to get permission before doing the work if they are going to charge you.
