I was doing a little radical road racing with the boys last night and developed a whine of unknown origin. The dealer says the fluid in the transfer case is burned and the whole thing must be replaced. I am running all Buschur add ons and should be at about 340 whp and 300 fpt. I have launced it pretty hard a bunch, but has anyone else had this failure? Should this happen and what is the solution to preventing it in the future. Is there a better fluid or is the dealer full of it. I am clueless as this is my first awd. Any input will be appreciated. They said the tranny fluid looks ok. Are these fluids seperate? Help....This is an expensive big ouch if they don't cover any of it...which I cannot imagine they will.

Transfer case update

The dealer took out the tranny today and guess what. I had an independent shop install my twin disc and they put the output shaft in backwards. Thus the bearing was riding on the shaft loose. I was driving a time bomb. The shop is of course denying that they even took the shaft out. the best i can tell they performed a miriacle because I cannot see a way to change the clutch and not pull that shaft. Can anyone confirm that. I am talking about the shaft that goes through the transfer case. When it is in pieces it is a little hard to reassemble in my mind. I will get to speak to the Mitsu mechanic in the morning. I am glad it was not just a plain failure. I was kind of discouraged but I am ready to put her back on the track now.
