oil pressure drop-what is dangerous??

Oil pressure drop-when to act??

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi,
My oil pressure in my IX is dropping from 100psi down the straight to 30 -40psi around a long fast right hander. From what I have read this is common with evo's.
It idles at 20psi.

Is 30 -40 psi enough pressure - at what pressure drop do you do something about it?

Any engine builders/track guys with some advice??

Also, anyone logged oil pressure after fitting the AMS sump or an accusump?

Thanks in advance.

As long as its hitting 20psi when idle your fine. The oil pressure will go down when you let off the gas

If you do not have 10psi for every 1000 rpm I would do something about it, you don't want to take any chances. Sounds like you are a prime candidate for the AMS wet sump oil pan and pickup.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, have emailed AMS and an agent but no response.
I take it you have the AMS sump? How was the fit .....and the oil pressure variations around a track?

I can't speak for this part because I don't own it. I am a loyal AMS customer because they build great products that fit in all of my other experiences. It sounds like you have the need for it being why I recommend it, but I am sure they will get back to you as soon as possible with their recommendation as well. Good luck, if you do decide to purchase it let us know your satisfaction on fit, finish and operation.
