t-case gearing question...

i am looking at an 03 Evo at a buddys lot, and had a gearing question. this car killed a transfer case, and a used one was installed. but, when you drive the car, its like you are taking off in 3rd or something similar. supposedly the case also came out of another 03, but i dont really know for sure.

i was wondering if maybe the ratio of a t-case from a 6spd car might be different, or if anyone know what the ratios were? that was my best guess.

thanks!

Wes

give it more gas. . . i know what you are talking about and that sounds like you just need to get used todriving it. especially with an act clutch it is kinda heavy . . . learning on that i have started out in first and it felt "bpgged down" for a second and then catches. . . and it would only happen when it is cold. . now i am used to driving it and it never happens. . .

from what i hear, its like you put it in 3rd gear instead of 1st, like the gearing is waaay too tall. i figured that the 6spd didnt come out till the IX MR, i think?

the clutch was replaced as well, so im not sure.

i am going to to go by and check it myself, see if i can tell anything. i was mainly curious if the 6spd had a different t-case internal ratio.

but the tcase is the same AFAIK.

i am not too sure why he would be getting that issue. seems very weird. are you sure his tranny wasn't damaged along with the t case???

yea, idk. i need to go check the car out again. i did take a look at the condition of the car previously, but it wouldnt pull itself at the time to drive it.

its fairly stock, only some sort of muffler has been changed. only has like 37k on it.
