yes and no--- now when you say open dump- do you mean wastegate or open downpipe

-a silencer will not reduce horsepower- if it does, maybe like 2hp!--it only tapers down about 3 incheck of the muffler-----

Answer to your question is - YES!!!
If you lose 3-6hp. It's STILL HP lost! So YES!

Definitely! These cars don't like silencers.

Silencer would also effect the amount of backpressure through your exhast since it has to push it open

i have an apexi active silencer that worked great with my loud jun bl non restricted exhaust(no cat). spring loaded, so it opens up when you're at full throttle. i don't drive my car on the street anymore, so i am selling it if anyone is interested.

I could feel when my silence was in. Seriously felt like a 20hp loss on my old evo. 3" exhuast reduced down to a little over 1" is a huge restriction. Ebay TBE.

The loss is definitely more than 3-5 whp.

One of the tuner magazines made a test with a silencer. On a Mazda miata the power drop was minimal, I think around 3-4whp but on a turbocharged 200sx with an sr20dett I think thy lost 16whp...
Now can you imagine my fs635 going from a full 3" to 1"? if I go full boost I think I could even damage the turbine blades because of the backpressure!
I bet you I would loose way more than 20whp!!!

the more power your car makes the more power the silencer will rob

on a turbo'd car it's a lot more than 3-5 hp

they just did this test on i think it was import tuner or some other mag and they did it on a turbo 240 sx and it lost i htink it was like 14hp and hit the torque curve sooner than with out the silencer

If you have an O2 dump, then WOT power would not be affected at all.

Your still having exhaust flow come out the exhaust then so its going to reduce your flow by having the silencer.. why not put a quieter muffler on the car - magnaflow race series or add one upstream
