My FP Black
i'm on my third twin hd and i've experienced that same thing in the past, mostly when the clutch was a little used from hard driving at the drag strip but i was shifting to 5th as hard as i could. the more power you throw at the clutch, and drivetrain for that matter, just a couple of miss shifts or high rpm lock-outs can put undue wear on parts multiplied many times compared to a more normal style driving. just my opinion from my own experinces. but who drives normal that owns an evo
how many miles on clutch? g/l with the car looking forward to some bb black times

The Twin HD works great, you'll be happy with it! Besides, if in the future you decide to make more power, you can upgrade the twin to a triple.

it all depends on how you actually drive the car and is it really going to be on the track 24/7?? I have a twin and its holding the power perfectly fine but i dont go to the track nor have i even launched once and im laying down some serious tq numbers but still if your gonna be racing all the time persay get the triple if not maybe just rarely you will be fine with the twin
To be honest, I went right from a stock Evo VIII 9.5 housing turbo to the FP Black and there was no comparison
Kidding aside, it was kind of weird at first, only because I was used to the stock turbo spooling so quickly, when I was first driving the car I was like, where's the power? With the Black, on my stock motor the power/boost didn't really kick in until 4350/4500 RPM's, while the stock turbo would already be at full boost by this RPM.
I'm curious to see what it will be like on my current setup.
Other than that, sorry, I don't have another stock framed turbo to compare it to.
I'd love to go for a ride in Mike's car!

take a trip up to VA and you can get a ride. I ad a fp red but i never used it lol stayed in the package most use it got was when i took it out for pics and when i sold it back to FP my stock 8 turbo was on the car when it had issues post build and i could not boost over 15psi so would not be fair comparison on my part either. but i agree with acree the BB Black is pointless upgrade for majroity of evo owners that have a jb black already
My car and our other shop evo will be on the dyno next saturday. We have goals for both cars and I just hope we get there. I won't be leaving with less than 750whp, that is for sure

Since the 750whp dyno I have added the following: 1.5" Tubular Toxic Fab Manifold (Had stock), 3" UICP (2.5"), 75mm TB (65mm), 3.5" exhaust (3"). This will truly max out this setup.
Bink, I'm glad to hear that you went DBB FP Black! You will love it. If you ever need anything or have any questions feel free to let me know.

Yes, everyone can come out to VA to take a ride! It is a ****ing beast on the road and almost uncontrobable. btw I have had a DBB FP BLack for 4 months now. I did the testing for Robert. I thought the car was a beast with the std Black, you should see it now! lol

Thanks buddy! I just recently moved, which is why I have had a lack of updates. Tonight I am setting up the garage and tomorrow I am pulling the turbo. Can't wait to get the DBB in there.

Thank God, otherwise I couldn't live vicariously through them. It's the only way I can tame my horsepower addiction lol. I regularly attend my Horsepower Anonymous meetings just to get by. It's a "2-Step" program, haha.
