Looking good. I never thought of painting my subframe. Nice oil pan also. I have never seen pictures of it installed out of the car.

Thanks man. How's you new 2.0?

I only painted it because I installed a new front sway bar. I figured while the engine was out I might as well as upgrade the front sway bar and coat the sub-frame. I used Rustoleum and then 3M rubberized undercoat spray to coat it.

I still have to finish the oil cooler / oil line to turbo / Buschur double pumper install / attach the downpipe / install the intake and I should be ready to fire it

Well take your time. No need to rush. You are getting closer and are probably getting excited. My new engine is running great so far. No oil burning off or leaks. I still have about 700-1000 miles of break in I still need to do. Ill be doing a compression test once its broken in to check engine health. Then tuning starts

The Evo Lives....

After many hours it's finally done.

I put 53.4 miles on it running Brad Penn SAE 30 'The Green Oil' for the initial break-in.
The break-in was done by accelerating in different gears and letting the motor slow the car down in order to seat the rings properly.

She didn't like to idle. With the said....the GSC S3's are awesome. They sound really mean. I adjusted the BISS screw per Lucas's advice and used Evoscan to activate the solenoid and it finally idled

I then drained the oil and switched to AMSOIL ARO 20W-50. And drove another 30 miles. The car has ~80 miles on it. Right around 70 miles it really started to drive nice and runs and idles like a champ.

Here's a teaser:

I'll upload a video in the next day or so

Nice! Good to hear you got it running and running good. Make sure to check your oil level regularly. Break in miles are not fun. I only have about 400 more to go though. How many break in miles are you going for?

Thanks man!

No kidding.... break-in miles are a big PITA! Besides having to constantly vary the RPM....I'm nervous about driving it (just because I'm paranoid something might go wrong).

I plan on doing 1050 miles total. Then change the oil again and head over to the Dyno

I know what you mean. After about 500 miles or so you should get comfortable with the new motor and wont be worried as much. I was originally going for 2k miles but now I'm only going for 1500.

Word

How are you breaking your engine in? Did you break your engine in similar to how I did? With a break-in oil for the first 50 miles then using the oil you will use normally after that? Or did you do it differently?

I asked AMS and Strictly modified about break in oil and the both said its not necessary but will speed up the break in. They said to just use the cheapest conventional oil I could find. I went with Auto zone 10-40 oil and followed AMSs break in guide shown here http://amsperformance.com/instructio...structions.pdf
Only difference is I'm only doing 1500 miles total. After that I will check my compression and do a leak done test. I will decide from there if I will go the extra 500 miles or not.

Cool. It's funny how different some engine break-in techniques are.
