MBC users thoughts?
After talking to a fellow friend last night about how much he loves his MBC I am rethinking the whole EBC thing. Anyone care to chime in on why they love their MBC and overall feelings.
wait a sec, if you already have an ebc you would be a moron to switch to a mbc. mbc are great for the price and they are simple to install. they work very well otherwise no one on here would ever of had one. an ebc is simply the best. it holds your boost 10x better than any mbc ever could. but if your looking to buy a mbc or ebc then it is all up to you. what kind of power are you looking to make? what are your future goals? do you have the money for an ebc?
all those questions you have to answer yourself. i personally am still using a mbc. (i dont plan on switching to a ebc until i switch to a AEM EMS) in facts its the SAME exact mbc i have had and been pushing over 20 psi for over 6 years on my DD's. like i said mbc work very well, but they just dont have some of the advantages ebc have.
good luck with your choice

I noticed the exact opposite on my car. Response is much improved with the MBC back on again and the car also spools faster (the new Tephra v7 should improve upon that a bit though). On my car, remember its a IX, to get the most power with pump gas I was actually having to taper the boost down basically mimicking the taper a MBC has since the car preferred timing over boost in the upper RPM's.
I have always seen 1-200 rpm quicker spool going from MBC to gm 3-port. I think GST has a bunch of data posted somewhere. Logically it makes sense, you are keeping the WG completely clamped instead of progressively opening like on a MBC.

My GM BCS was properly setup and I tried it both load-based and with a JDM 3.3-bar MAP sensor.
GST's data is what convinced me to try it in the first place, I just saw none of the benefits but all of the drawbacks on my car. I gave it a good long chance, had it on my car for about a year, and did everything imaginable to get it tuned in properly but was just never happy with it.

i totally understand your frustration, esp come winter time. I am very much looking forward to getting on v7 mainly for weather correction. It is tough, as someone who is constantly tuning their car i don't really mind but typically recommend a MBC for those who don't want the hassle.

You sure it isnt just the way you have your boost control set up on your rom? Also I kinda hate how the colder it gets the more boost it will make on a MBC. I do know why, I just wonder if moving the MBC closer to the block will make more consistent boost versus varying outside temps. hmm...
