I think some of this falls on the mechanic too, if he didn't caution the OP. We all should know that not everyone reads on here.

He didn't say anyting about a 500 mile break in. I put redline fluid i threre. The clutch it's not slipping it hangs on really tight and strong, but i have to rev it up more than normal to take of in 1st gear. He is going to pull the housing today to see what's going on. I'll get back to you guys. If you have any more ideas please post them, i'll be checking it trough out the day. Thanks

I did read about the break in, i guess i wasn't thinkin right. But i really didn't launch it on purpose, seems it was kind of tricky to take off i gave it a little more gas. Someting doesn't add up, it souldn't be so hard to drive a competition clutch. I'm so frustrated

Its back at his shop. He will go through it and check everything. From what i understand some trannies respond really bad to new racing clutches, hope that's not the case. Thanks for all the help. If you have any more ideas let me know.

I know when you put a light weight fly wheel and heavier clutch that you have to give the engine more RPM's to keep from stalling because they are such a light weight and the clutch just wants to grab right away. Not sure if that could be your RPM problem or not.

theres no way this guy fried his clutch by launcing it one or even twice or even three times.. i took my car to the track right after my clutch install and that thing lasted me 3 yrs...something else is the cause.something came loose or wasnt installed properly..hard to say without looking at it.. but in no way did u fry ur clutch because of a launch. u guys really think these 8 second evos and all other manual race cars drive 500 miles to break it in come on seriously...the only thing that has to happen is the clutch has to make good contact with the flywheel and this can be done by a few light clutch drops..

It shouldn't have happened just from one launch. I have heard of people tracking and autoxing right after a clutch install. You are supposed to break it in to seat the bolts and also wear the friction material evenly early on. Getting on it early though could have exposed a problem with the install though. Did you try adjusting the pedal? Does it shift smoothly with the engine off?

Yes it shifts smoothly with the engine off. I don't know what you mean by adjusting the pedal, it feels fine.
I really thing sometinhg came loose ir maybe wasn't aligned right. The noise gets louder as i speed up, but i parked the car right away so i can't de so descriptive about it.
Thanks for all the replies.

Good luck and get back to us. I don't think your RPM problem is going to change. I think thats the nature of the clutch.

Ok I have some bad news, there is a hairline crack on the TC. That is whats causing the extremely loud noise. My mechanic said that by taking it to a local shop that does aluminum welding will take care of the problem. Smells fishy what do you guys think???
