OS Giken twin disc w/dampened center

I have been looking for a twin/tripple disc with dampened/sprung center for my Evo 2, and this is the only one I have found: http://www.osgiken.co.jp/pro_clutch/clutch/r2cd.html

I had a twin Quartermaster which is a great clutch for dragracing. Can shift really fast with it, but is a little bit harsh for daily driving and what annoy me most is that it make my tranny sound horrible when deacceleration It also twisted my input shaft alittle

Now I have installed a Carbonetic tripple carbon which is very good for daily use, but still make my tranny sound horrible when deacceleration and I feel I can not shift as fast as I could with the Quartermaster. I also do not like that I have to "warm" up the clutch before abusing it.

I was hoping that the Os Giken with sprung center will get rid of all the noises from the tranny and can let me shift as fast as the Quartermaster. I can live with the little harsh engagement. Any opinions? Are there other twin/tripple with sprung center available for the early Evo 1-3?

Regards

Ben Stian

That clutch will not get rid of all the drive shaft rattle. May reduce it . Wont shift as fast as carbonetics due to heavier plates. How much power/TQ are you making? I have driven virtually every clutch made for all evos and can possibly spin you in the correct direction.

Hi,

At this time my car runs 545 whp/665nm. A new head are sent to porting and fitting bigger valves and new cams will be installed in a couple of months looking for 600 whp.

Why wont the noises when deacceleration go away with a sprung center? If they are still there, I will keep my clutches and save the money

I felt I could shift faster with the QM than the Carbonetic.

Thanks

In my own experience with the early Evo drivetrain, running sprung centre disk(s) can actually make more noise than the solid centre disks of a 7.25" twin disk.

The only clutch centre that is silent is the OEM Mitsubishi one with 2 springs and 4 rubber damper elements but it is too big to adapt to a twin disk. (I have seriously looked into this)

Thanks Dirk

That is actually bad news for me
Have you tried this OS Giken clutch or know someone who have tried it? What other multi disc clutches with sprung center are available for the early Evo?

Great clutch. I used both of them - STR and R2CD, first for the street use, second street and drag.

Thanks

Did the OS Giken R2CD get rid of the noises on overrun/deacceleration?
If not, are there any twins/tripple that will remove it?

Any updates regarding twin/tripple clutch which will remove drivetrain noise on deacceleration?

I have seen there are some DSM guys running big power (low 10s) with ACT 2900 w/street disc. Maybe this clutch are good enough for me? 450-500 lbfts and a couple of drag events each year. I have never driven a car with this clutch, so I dont know how heavy the pedal is. I dont want it to heavy. The Carbonetic tripple are nice

I have 300 miles on my STR and it is way quieter than my act clutch. The clutch is really quite actually. I can't comment on shifting as of yet but from what I am told the higher the rpm the better this clutch wants to engage.

I cant get the clutch/gearbox noise out of my head...
Will the Exedy twin carbon D-Core (dampened center) reduce noise on deacceleration?

OS giken is your best bet to cut down on the noise.

I have 350 miles on mine now and it is very silent below 4k. I haven't revved it up past 4500 yet but around that area it buzzes to a certain degree. Still quieter than my act six puck . I can't really compliment on performance as of yet but for dd this thing rocks. The pedal is without a doubt softer than stock and feels like you will have the perfect amount of play for launching.
